Regarding the "rust" do a search on the forums, I have a thread as well as others. It may not be rust, not saying that there aren't any rust spots BUT what you are seeing may not be. Most of the welds look rusty but it turns out it is the paint peeling off the weld because the weld wasn't completely cleaned which I came to find NO manufacturer does that. I've seen the same pics of my welds on a Toyota forum too.

Post some pics and I can tell you if it's what I am seeing too.

I mean wasn't terrible for the most part, but enough that I felt a brand new car shouldn't have!

There was rust on the front axle as well, which I'm sure is inevitable, but still...

The pic with the bad porosity was on the frame close to the back bumper flanking the muffler.

OK... so the top picture, yuk. That is a problem others have seen with holes in the actual weld. I don't have that and you can see that is really rust, The second from the bottom pic is exactly what I have and it's not rust. It is a shiny orange color that looks like rust. I even sprayed it w a rust converter and it did nothing to it (should have turned it black).

Regarding the rust on the axle, I have it too. I agree, shouldn't be there but it is what it is and it's from lack of paint (prob trying to save $). At least the drive shafts aren't rusting, they coated them compared to the JKs. The JKs completely surface rusted in months.

They had a Sport S that had just come in and it seemed to have some of the on-weld orange, and also had some porosity like the last two pics. Not as bad, but it was there. Just seems odd to me!

The orange on-weld does seem odd until you research it and see it is on other brands as well. It's something to do with how the slag isn't completely removed from the weld.

The one where a priest is blessing the welds holy scares me. I know others have said it isn't a big deal but I don't like it.

I'm still researching, but I always would have thought you wouldn't get a great deal on an order. Is there a trick to it beyond haggling/supplier discounts?
There are multiple dealerships offering 5% below invoice for factory orders. Part of that is due to the fact that orders don't have as much overhead as dealer stock (no meaningful uncertainty as to whether it'll sell, no need to occupy valuable real estate while trying to get it sold), and some dealers get preferential treatment from FCA due to the volume of their orders.

Look around the forum. The closest one I know of to Michigan offering that deal is in Dayton, Ohio.
