I appreciate the feedback. From a forum standpoint I don’t feel it’s my place to pipe in a lot of the time. I appreciate this place because it gives me a sense as to how the JL community feels about one topic or another, and I don’t think it’s my area to comment a lot of the time.That's my thing man, you been a member here since 2017, but this is your first thread. You say you've been poking around for the last 7 years, but can't seem to put the effort into communicating with us (7 years, 1 thread, like 13 posts) until you need something. It'd be a little different if you've been a sponsor this whole time, even a stage one sponsor I could at least have a little respect for you.
I don't know about anyone else, I just feel used by this thread. It'd be one thing if you were regular around here, but you just been creeping around for 7 years and only pop up when you need something, kind of selfish.
Having been a long time viewer of y'all's channel(s), for like the last 10 years, I can tell you for sure this is a Tommy thing, which is also the reason why I've always been a fan of Alex myself. Feel free to pass that information along to Alex!
As to Alex absolutely amazing guy, you should tell him yourself, I know he’d appreciate it. Is he on this forum?
l try to stay up to date on enthusiast matters because I’m extremely passionate about it. There’s very few others I follow because our industry is just so large.
As for revenue the golden age of YouTuve has passed us by as well. Full transparency: if this video were to get 50,000 views, that might equate to maybe $350 in revenue (before tax). Factor in the producer and editor time and it’s a big money loss. 15% of our videos are the ones that really keep the lights on.
That’s why we have to run ads on top unfortunately, to pay our folks and rent.

OP, you should expand past model and focus on why some manufactures can get paint to stick and others cant. Or why are some colors more problematic than other colors, would expand your YouTube hits from just Jeep to all manufactures.

I have a Jeep with corrosion. I'm happy to share my story, but it's not that exciting.
There are a few things that I'd like to see in a story. Note that most of these are addressed in the forum, so flame off people - I know that. This is what I think would make a good story so one doesn't have to dig through the forums to find these answers.
a) How many Jeeps are affected? A real number, not an educated or uneducated guess. This is a huge question - is any Jeep actually safe or are they all ticking time bombs?
b) Why are some Jeep dealerships able to get away with refusing to service the problem?
c) If one were to mosey down to a bunch of Jeep dealership and glance at their used Jeeps, how many have it? (To get a bigger sample size on the answer to this question)
d) What is Jeep saying the problem is? My dealership keeps saying galvanic corrosion that lets water into the seams, but the majority opinion here seems to be poor prep. Plus what about the hood and windshield frame?
e) What happened with the class action suit - did that lead to the 5 year warranty, and if so, who decided 5 years was good enough? It's not...
f) Focus on reliable sources - separate what is truly known, vs suspected, vs speculated. This is a big issue with this problem - since Jeep isn't sharing.
g) What are the fixes? Which ones work, which don't. How to get a dealership to actually help you.
h) What happes if it's ignored? Cosmetic or functional problem?
i) What are the demographics on it? My Jeep is out here in the high desert, and I don't think it's as common out here. But nothing is - the population is lower so we don't have as much of anything. Does humidity and precipitation make a difference? I know people get it from their perfectly babied garaged jeeps, but does it happen more where it's damp? Not sure it matters, but I am curious...

I remember y'all's how much we make video that your dad did. It was really informative. I understand just how tight budget everything is over there.
Hey it's worth anything, I really enjoyed your red two-door Wrangler series. I'm kind of bummed I don't see it as much anymore. And y'all's AEV follow behind Wrangler is pretty BA as well.

good call. I've had 3 TJ's, 2 JK's, and now 2 JLs. My 2008 JK Sahara got it really quickly (after less than a year old bought new, and taken very good care of). None of the others had any issues (knock on wood).
Some food for thought - the JL's with the galvanic corrosion are hardly the first to experience hinge corrosion problem wide spread on Jeeps. As you are probably aware it goes back to the JK's and certainly even back to the TJ. Only now in 2024 is Jeep addressing it with the new addition of the Zinc shim between the body and hinge. I was really surprised when Jeep released the JL, that it was not properly addressed after it being so evident on the JK.

@TFL I think you should do the slip test with a JL. I was sent an email a few months or more ago that it was going to be done, but I don't think it ever was. You guys do it with just about every vehicle, but I've never seen it done with the JL. How does the JL handle the slip test compared to the 4Runner, the Bronco, the Scoobydoo Xtrek?

I get what you mean, with your username being like all official and everything for your channel/brand. But, you have a JL? You're part of the community. You have every right to chime in that I do, and you're probably better-informed on many things Jeep than I. If anything, I'd just get a different username for non-official TFL stuff if that makes you feel better about posting as a community member.
