I'm curious.

Going back centuries, newspapers and magazines (business entities selling advertising space and getting revenue from unit sales) have been interviewing people without paying them. Radio and TV stations followed suit.

All of them that survived the digital revolution still interview people without paying them.

Why do people think they should get paid to be interviewed by the modern version of a magazine/news organization? There is no precedent for it.

Because people like to play victim and are now proclaiming their victimization at the hands of the "evil YouTubers" who "steal their story for money".

Im not saying stuff wasnt monetized. Banner ads exsisted for sure, but it wasn't a monetization driven philosophy. I was able to find what ever I need via forums like this or independently run sites. How many things are not made today that wouldve been made then due to "it wont make money".

Paid advertising determining results? Not really, yeah you had sponsored listings same as now, but its all driven by SEO and keyword indexing, then more so today browsing history is a factor. But then, like now, youre relying on honest headlines and seo.

And yes, server cost and all that needs to be covered. But today, the saying "if its free, youre the product" rings a little too literal. My problem with todays internet is that everthing needs to be a production to increase engagment while presenting little substance that is usually questionable and opinion based being presented as fact.

Just my 2cents.
I appreciate the discussion. I don't agree with your misty-eyed revisionist version of how the internet used to be back in the day but frankly this discussion has become boring so I'm tapping out. I'd rather talk about Jeeps!

So basically you're saying that the mass media has been profiting off of morons for years. No argument there.

Hi All,

My name is Tommy Mica, I am a producer for a YouTube channel called TFLcar.

Following up on the JL rust concerns. If you have been impacted and want to tell your story let’s do a zoom call for a video! Send me a dm or shoot me an email at [email protected]. Would love to hear your experience.
Thanks!
Hey Tommy, I have a 2019 JLRU and have not had any corrosion issues at all. Living in MI with all the prime conditions conducive for corrosion. Just wondering if a poll of model year and build dates with/without would possibly show times of poor factory body shop prepping? Great job on the TFL channel!

I’m just here to judge the people who are judging other people for judging people.
Someone is going to judge you for that.
