Right back at your Terry @Terrymo. Nobody forces you to read or respond, to me or others.
As evidenced by your Flashdance sweatshirt comment a few days ago, I can take a joke just fine.
You went over a line here.
I'm starting to think you don't read. Aside from completely agreeing that gas tampering is rare, as discussed prior I just switched back to the factory non locking gas cap to get around EVAP codes I've been getting.Im starting to think this is some sort of creative writing process hes going through cause no one should be this delusional and scared in real life.
Me too given that they're false and I believe the product of @Rhinebeck01 , a.k.a. banned @FatBoy01.
You can do what you want, but to pass it off as some needed thing in this allegedly highly crime ridden world of gas theft and sugar spikers is insane.I'm starting to think you don't read. Maybe if I get another rubber gasket for the locking one I'll put it back on. My logic: the extra inconvenience of using this locking cap is even smaller *for me* than said likelihood of tampering.
But again, that's me.
I simply don't understand why people have nothing better to do here than accept, particularly in a world of customized Wranglers the idea that some people pursue option X, and some don't.
I couldn't care less what people do that's safe and legal regarding access to their gas filler neck; I respect their decisions here. It amazes me that other people care about this.
Impossible!Next level... this guy had a locking fuel door so they broke his window to unlock it and then ripped it off for good measure. I really do think we need locking fuel doors but now clearly need to have steel plating on our windows to protect the locking fuel door.

At first in this thread I merely asked a question about available of product that restricts access from within the vehicle to the filler neck. You can do what you want, but to pass it off as some needed thing in this allegedly highly crime ridden world of gas theft and sugar spikers is insane.
A locking gas cap does require more effort to do something nefarious. If a bunch of miscreants are out trying to add something to your tank they will move on to an easier target.Locking gas caps and fuel doors have little functional value.
Most modern vehicles have anti-siphon filler necks. And, a thief who wants the fuel is more likely to drill a hole in the fuel tank (JLs have factory standard fuel tank skid plates, which are a slight deterrent).
No please don't say that William (sarcasm). You see it's actually true (despite the incidence of tampering being very small) but there are just too many people who don't have restricted access to their Wrangler's filler neck that not only believe themselves right, but see others taking a different view as an affront to their choices.A locking gas cap does require more effort to do something nefarious. If a bunch of miscreants are out trying to add something to your tank they will move on to an easier target.
I'd like to go on record as the one who introduced sugar spiking. At first in this thread I merely asked a question about available of product that restricts access from within the vehicle to the filler neck.
Than I was making the case for why some Wrangler owners have locking access. There are apparently enough owners out there who buy into this, I am sure far more than me, since I don't have this now and am in no rush to change that, given the availability, again, of:
1) two versions of a locking gas cap from Mopar,
2) aftermarket vendor's implementations of locking gas caps,
3) aftermarket vendor's implementation of a locking gas cap covers, and
4) the most recent disclosure, not by me, of the Lantsun JL1290 electric fuel tank cover for Jeep for wrangler JL 2018+ 4 door that actuates from a key fob.
At no point did I claim gas (your word) "theft" mine "tampering" (taking or contaminating) and sugar spikers are an issue. The introduction of sugar spiking wasn't not even mine. I expressly said this is not a thing, but that at best the few opportunistic dirt bags out there might choose another target in random attack against a vehicle among others in the vicinity, which don't have restricted access to the filler neck.
Get your facts right and fight with someone who actually opposes your mindset.
INCORRECT. When I come across a locked gas cap, locked car door, locked front door or locked bedroom door I make it my life's work to defeat it.A locking gas cap does require more effort to do something nefarious. Including (much that I do see your dry humor here) your x-ray vision abilities to see past the gas cap cover of said locking Wrangler gas cap owners so equipped....INCORRECT. When I come across a locked gas cap, locked car door, locked front door or locked bedroom door I make it my life's work to defeat it.
I'm not the only one who keeps the receipts anymore! There used to be information here.
