Dang... I've never seen anyone else ever mention the Muntz Stereo-Pak.
“Would you believe” I’m under 70- “Would you believe” 75. A friend was so proud of the one he put in his 58 Vett. I one upped him with an 8 track in my 55 Nomad when they were introduced. Too bad we don’t still have the tape decks, Uh, still mounted in the cars. ;) “Would you believe” l’d love to have Maxwell Smart’s Tiger too , even without a tape deck

The Wrangler doesn't have any type of SD or microSD slot, does it?

That would actually be awesome, since I have several 200GB micro cards and not enough USB ports in the Jeep.
I have a very small microsd to usb adapter that I use. Works a treat.

New cars? Yeah... Millennials can't afford those.
Yeah... Millennials can't afford those.

Meanwhile Gen Z has already doubled the demand for new manual transmission vehicles and over half of them can't even legally drive yet.

Then again Gen Z never said "adulting is hard".

Alright, this thread made me realize that my Wrangler will be the first car I have without a CD player. Got a cheap external USB CD player and started ripping all of my CDs through itunes. Have a stack of CDs next to the computer; whenever I walk by I take the last ripped disk out and put a new one in.

We’ve got lots of cellular dead zones here in WA so it’ll be nice to always have something to listen to when the streaming services can’t get a signal.

You can offline as much music as you want on Spotify. And every album you want is there, instantly available, at any time. Honestly, every problem you may think these streaming services have is long since fixed and streamlined 100 times over at this point. And the discovery features are so, so good. It'll suggest other music based on what you like and it's scary good at finding things that you'll enjoy and seamlessly mix them in after your album or playlist finishes (if you want).

as long as that's quadraphonic i'm down, let's put on some darkside and hotbox
I have a 5.1 surround sound copy of "Meddle" on a thumb drive. Ripped it from the box set "The Early Years". It'd be cool if the Jeep had surround sound!

Ok... So I ordered this CD player on Saturday, and it arrived today (Thursday). Not too bad - got here fairly quick actually. Came very well packaged, and it looks nice. Here's what I ordered for those just checking this thread:

USB Integrated Add-On CD Player for 2018+ Jeep Wrangler – Ensight Automotive Solutions

Hopefully this weekend I can hook it up and test it out. I've got a baby shower on Saturday (new grandson) and they're a little over an hour away. So hopefully I can give it a good test on the drive. And test out Spotify (Siri isn't always doing exactly what I ask of her, but I've only messed with it very briefly).

Doesn't it though? There are plenty of speakers front and rear on even the most basic models.
All you're missing is a subwoofer.

Now that you mention it, it looks very similar to the LG CD/DVD drive that I use with my laptop.
I'm wondering if I can just plug that into the Jeep... I'll have to try it.

Well, there's a 12 inch sub. But 5.1 really needs a 15 for Pink Floyd!

I had a few minutes to play with the CD player before work, so I did.

Too simple. Plug it into a USB port (I used the one inside the center console - #2). Turn on the radio, pick USB #2 under source, insert a CD, and it will start playing. It might take a few seconds for the radio to accept the CD player, so you're not supposed to do anything to it (like go to the next song) until it is done. The instructions were straight forward - it really isn't complicated.

It comes with some two-sided sticky tape if you want to mount it somewhere. Right now mine is just sitting on the passenger seat.

Of course I had to grab a CD to test it out, and what would be more fitting than Hank Williams Jr's Habits Old and New CD. Literally, I was listening to "I'm a Dinosaur" while testing it out.

Glad it worked, nice selection.

I wonder if it will be able to pull song/album names from newer discs.

With a large library, it takes a bit for the Jeep computer to "digest" all the info, but it works great.

How large is your library, and how long does it take to digest it? Does it do the digesting each time you start the Jeep? I have a 256GB flash with about 11K songs on it, it all works fine BUT, each time when I start the car it takes the player about 2 minutes for the 'browse' to become available. Not a huge deal but annoying, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong and whether there's a way to make it start faster (save for using a smaller flash with less songs on it).
