My last Jeep was a 2020 EcoDiesel which I loved, but got disheartened by the constant electrical issues, and overheating (limp mode) drama. It was a beautiful jeep. Since then I have had a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro, 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2, 2025 Ford F150 Tremor, 2024 Ford F150 Raptor with the 37' Tire package, and as of May I am now driving a 2026 LandCruiser 250. I bought the land cruiser because I just wanted a simple reliable vehicle that can get me to my fishing spots and hiking trails while driving around the smokies. I do have one of the best Off Road Places in the East Coast (WindRock) right down the road from me which I miss driving.
Anyway the landcruiser is nice but it just isn't doing it for me because I am disappointed by how cheaply made this is. Everything is just plastic everywhere and not even good quality plastic. Everything is kind of a step down in quality compared to my Raptor to be honest.

Anyway I was considering getting back into a Jeep since I have owned many over the years and they are easy to work on for the most part minus the electrical system. My landcruiser is paid off and I was looking for an even swap on a Jeep Rubicon more or less. I an partial to the Anvil color with the 3.6 and found one in the Nashville area that I may go look at monday. I know this is a touchy subject but what is the latest consensus on the 3.6 vs 2.0? The 3.6 is simple but not without its own problems. Also are we still suffering from chronic electrical issues due to the abysmal charging system jeep has forced on us? Anything else I should consider?

admittedly I go through cars easily, but I always come back to jeep for some reason. I swore after my eco diesel I would never own another Jeep while Stelantis is in charge, but here I am. Unfortunately I need something that gets me off road, and there are not a lot of good alternatives to the Jeep. I do not like the Broncos, Land Rover is out for obvious reasons, I've had a 4 Runner and not interested in that again, and want to stay away from another truck for a while. Am I crazy for going the jeep route again?

Needing a psychiatrist aside, what are your thoughts?

Ok, to kick it off I’ve been really happy with my ‘25 Willy’s Xtreme 35 package with the 3.6. I run 93 due to the PUG high compression ratio and its tendency to run hot. Plenty of power for a Jeep. Fuel economy sucks at around 15 mpg combined but I didn’t buy it for economy. It has the stutter in RPM between 2,500 to 3,000 RPM under certain loads all the ‘24 up 3.6’s have. There’s a member on here that can tune that out. It’s annoying but I deal with it 😉🍻👊🏼🇺🇸

3.6- known issues like cams being wear items, coolant stuff, oil cooler/housing. Easyish to work on.

2.0T- proven to be pretty reliable. Not free of issues, mostly cooling system related but does have timing chain/tensioner and cam phaser issues if you don’t like taking care of your stuff. Suck to work on from a DIY perspective. Sounds like a tractor

That being said, PERSONALLY will never own a 3.6 Jeep ever. Aside from the issues my sisters GC had. It’s simply because it’s been a problem with the cams for 15 years now and Stellantis/Mopar is complacent in basically refusing to extend warranties or come up with a fix at no cost to the consumer. If Kia/Hyundai can warranty the Theta2 for life over a manufacturing defect, They can swallow their pride and make an otherwise pretty good engine, actually better and restore some faith in the brand from their consumers. But they won’t. So yeah. That’s how I feel lmao.

That being said again. Buy what you want. Buy an extended warranty and enjoy it. Both engines aren’t amazing but do work well when they are issue free. Also, maybe a lease is the move for you since you change cars like I change underwear hahaah

Usually occurs after the engine is at full operation temperature and between 2,500 to 3,000 RPM under certain loads, it’s a stumble like all timing/spark was pulled for a fraction of a second then picks back up and runs normal. Best way I can describe it it.

Brad's BMP Calibrations thread.

I have it. I like it. I'm not the only one.
