I bought extra straps for that. I have velcro around all 4 seat belts and I only use two straps to go around the whole top and around the back window bar. I don't bother with the factory velcro spots any more.
I have long velcro straps for when the top is down, too, works great.

Undo the latches and push the top up then open the rear doors and get inside and push it back further.
This.

With the nice weather today, just folded it back for the second time ever. Unlatched it in front, stood up, and pushed it back as far as I could. Then, got in back, stood up, and folded it down the rest of the way. That way you can do it from the middle without having to worry about torquing one side or the other.

Good to know from other posts that it will get easier.

I just unlatch the two front clips while at a complete stop, start driving with very slow acceleration, push up on the top while seated in the drivers seat as much as I can and watch the wind gently push it the rest of the way open. Don't do this while moving at speed, it will slam back with great force. I have found that it usually opens gently all the way before I hit 15-20mph depending on the headwind.
