I don't even bother with AM/FM anymore. I've got more variety of music on my $15 USB stick than all the radio stations here combined.

Hyper-dip worked well for me; just be careful tightening it back on, the dip comes off easily when using tools; I finger tightened mine.

I thought about buying a stubby but there’s really nothing on broadcast AM/FM I care to listen to.
I've the 13" Ryondair stubby antenna on my JLU, but I agree that terrestrial radio stinks. Too many commercials and too many DJs with nothing intelligent to say. A free trial of Sirius left me unimpressed, too.

But for wanting to hear the afternoon traffic report on some days, which necessitates the antenna on my Jeep, 99% of my listening occurs via music stored on a USB flash drive.

I went through 4 different "stubby" type antenna's of various lengths. Ended right back at the factory one after about $125 worth of trial's. I did prime, paint (black), and clear mine with automotive paint at the end of it all. Tried plastidip, kept getting nicked and didn't hold up very well at all.

I am shocked I dont see more of the hinge covers. They are stupid cheap but from a distance look great in my opinion, adds some contrast.

After discovering a big rock ding in my rear door hinge, you’ve inspired my next mod. Thanks!

A black rattle can would've saved you money lol, just saying, unless you got a shorty like most the rest of us did.

I have no problem with my stock antenna but my garage door hates it.
I like having an antenna that's higher than the roof line. It acts as an early warning for over head clearance.

I replaced my factory antenna with a black version from AntennaX, but never measured the original length until the new one showed up and was a couple inches shorter. Still sticks up over the roof, but not as much. My gmrs antenna sits at the original factory height. Here's a couple pics of it being my early warning...
