That was ultimately what swayed my decision, as I would have been bummed if 2023 was the last year of 392 in a Wrangler. That said, a 2 door eventually find its way back into the garage. Thanks for the reply.

The twin turbo “Hurricane” V6 is sure to be powerful and fun, but there’s something viscerally satisfying about a V8.

I have a 2018 Raptor. Unlike the Gen-1 Raptors which came with a rumbling V8, the Gen-2s came with a turbo V6. It makes more power than it’s predecessor, but it doesn’t make my guts jiggle like the V8.

Older guys will remember the Burt Reynolds classic “Cannonball Run”. In that movie there was a high-tech Japanese team that had a fast car that was quiet and incredibly boring. It’s not just the performance of the vehicle. It’s how it makes you feel. If the 392 is an easy financial lift for you, and you love it, buy it. We don’t have that much drive-time left. I’d do it if I had more money, but I don’t, and I’m too old to consider having a car payment.

A friend of mine became a principal in a healthcare company that subsequently made huge money. His initial stock options increased in value more than 1000 times over less than five years, leaving him a HIGH multiple of what I could earn in several lifetimes, so he and his wife have been buying fun cars (and everything else). He ordered a C8 last fall with every available option, including all the carbon fiber goodies. His order came to over $160,000. If you can afford one of those, and the insurance that comes with a 200++ MPH car, the extra $30,000 for the Hemi is probably insignificant... especially since life is short, and our driving life is even shorter.

I’ll live vicariously through my friend and you!
I have a 2018 Raptor and you can`t compare it to a Jeep with a 392, just look on a Raptor forum and you will see how many exhaust systems are for sale because guys go back to the stock exhaust because it`s so hard to get right sound out of it.

Plus there are so many exhaust systems and components that you can mix and match till you run out of space to stack all of it

Now if you want the roar of a Raptor supercharged v8 with 37`s get ready to part with over $110,000, right up there with the TRX
The new twin turbo INLINE 6 has not gotten the approval for the Wrangler yet, at least not the inline 6 putting out over 500hp

I think we’re agreeing?

I‘ve never heard a great-sounding four or six cylinder engine, so it never occurred to me to swap out the exhaust on my Raptor.

I’ve modified the heck out my Jeep, but my Raptor is stock with the exception of better fog lights, backup lights, and heavier springs (because I sometimes need to do actual truck stuff).

The Raptor has that high pitched sound to it in my opinion. There are so many options for your truck, you can do the resonator delete pipe and no modifications needed and most of the kits you can change back to stock. Like I said there are so many different combinations available from just about every manufacture out there. The exhaust tone did change after doing a custom tune on the dyno, it sounded more like a sports car. Funny that they even pump the exhaust tone through the stereo system. You sure can get spoiled with all of the driving options that are available including the steering feedback. I wish Jeep would take a few ideas off of the Raptor

Rubitrux has a few 392 2 doors that they have built for customers, I think that Richard Pettys garage also includes the factory warranty with theirs.

2 door is gone. Saved 4k in sales tax by trading. Fear not, a 2 door will be back in the garage in the near future. Only change will the replacement 2 door will have a 6 speed rather than the auto the traded one came with. Real Jeeps have 2 doors and 3 pedals! LOL!
The 392's are stunning. I went to a Jeep fest last summer that had a mud pit for people to drive their Jeeps through. Entertaining to watch.

Then a 392 went through. WOT. The sound was incredible. And when he got through the mud pit, he did a few minutes of doughnuts on dry dirt. raising a cloud of dust so thick you couldnt see the Jeep. But you could really hear it. He stopped, let the dust settle, and the 392 could be seen just rumbling a bit.

It was the most awesome thing I've ever seen. Should have been a Jeep ad. I hope you enjoy your 392 as much as that guy does.

As I live in the land of salt and sand roads for the next 3 months, the 392 is parked in the man cave. Yeah, I know it's a Jeep and deserves to play in the snow, I can't bring myself to subject a 90k vehicle to that slop on the roads. Of all the stuff in the garage, I end up driving a 2009 Aveo with 170k on the clock as my sacrificial winter car. Go figure. But then no one ever accused me of being normal.

I have 2023 2 door Rubicon which I truly enjoy. And now am faced with the prospect of trading it on the 2023 XR 392 Reign Rubicon which is waiting for me at the dealer. 30k to boot with trade. 2 door is paid for. I really do not want to take funds from the market as they are -30% in the last year. Loan would be 33k at 5.49% for 72 months, which is not an issue. FOMO has me thinking to buy the 392. Practicality and financial common sense does not allow both in the garage. So I ponder. The 2 door is just plain fun to drive. But the 392 calls my name as it maybe the last of a breed. What says the collective???

BUY the 392. I doubt 20 years from now you will ever say I wish I had not done that. But it's very likely you will say the reverse.

No aftermarket exhaust sounds quite right on a 3.5 EcoBoost, AWE is probably the best. That ving been said, replace the down pipes, and run straight 3" on each side and it sounds great, almost like a 12 valve Cummins, to include the turbo whistle, but without the diesel clatter.

I would have really liked a 5.7 Hemi option for the 2 door. I guess if or when 3.6 ever goes, I would seriously consider shipping it to Rubitrux for a 5.7 transplant. I have no complaint with the 3.6 though, I wouldn't swap it just to swap it.

Keep you existing Jeep. It's a no brainier. You've already depreciated a 2023.... Unless you are writing these off, keep it.

Besides, that new beast of an engine is too much. It's an off road vehicle, not a rocket.

I'm not a fan of the 392 model. I have been a proponent of a Hemi Wrangler for a long time, but I would have preferred it to be an upgraded engine option. 5.7 would have been perfect. I don't want a "race jeep." I want a jeep with more power and torque within reason.
