I bought mine primarily to ride around with the top off. Mainly on paved roads. But I take it off road sometimes too. If I need to go off road to get to a specific place. Hiking trailhead, photo spot, etc. I don't go off roading just to go off roading.
Got a piece of mdf, and a Packout mounting plate and put 1 packout (so far) in the jeep. U-bolted the mdf base to the rear seat brackets on my 2-door. Haven't had the back seat in for years, so this works well.
I've had two 2 doors. Wife and I have taken our current 2 door on a couple long road trips with back seat out , but I can't see taking a long trip in a 2 door with 3 or more people. I have an F-150 for most of our road trips, which is much better for highway driving.
In the 70's I sank a buddy's cj in a 10' deep lake. We came back about an hour later with a truck and tow strap and pulled it out. Let it dry for a day and it started up and ran fine.
I knew right then that I needed to have Jeeps the rest of my life.
I wish jeep would come out with a Wrangler with a small v8, locking hubs, 33-35's, no carpet, vinyl seats, but not heated, no nav system, but with crank windows or a soft top with half doors and the old style roll bar, and steel bumpers..
Oh well. Not going to happen - I need to find an old cj.
