So, I took off the stock 33” Falken Wildpeak MTs off of my Rubi, and replaced them with 35x12.50 Falken Wildpeak MTs on the stock 17x7.5 rims. I’m still running stock gearing. It shifts into, and holds 8th at 50MPH and above.

This seems to be contrary to the conventional “wisdom.” What am I not understanding?

You probably don't have a 3.6L, correct? The 2.0T and 3.0TD are far less impacted by a "one-size up" tire size change.

Engine TQ/HP, vehicle weight, altitude, road conditions, actual tire size, and load all influence the ability to compensate.

Roger that - 2.0T. However, my wife has a 3.6 Sahara JLU, and I put Geolander X-AT 34s on it, and also zero impact on performance - although hers is the mild hybrid.

You will truly only notice it at highway speeds; e.g. 65MPH+ and on roads which are not flat, on hilly or mountain roads, or in high head winds.

It will be obvious then...

I’ve been up to 75MPH, same result, but I do live in FL.

I think residing in Sarasota, FL......in flat-lander country.....possibly helps lots, too.

Absolutely gents, I totally get it - but “experts” here still advise a regear, at least 4.56.

They usually advise that when a complaint is made.
Roger that LOL! I’ve never had a complaint. On my previous Sport JLU I mounted 35 MTs with the crappy 3.45 gearing and held 8th up to 90 MPH on the flats. It too was a 2.0T.

If you were having issues and wanted to regear with a 3.6L/ZF8, I would say 4.88.

Save your money. (silly going from4.10 to 4.56)
If you read into the weeds, you'll go crazy. Guys with Rubis on 37s are fine with 2.0L Turbo without a regear. JMHO.

We don’t take the wife‘s Sahara with the 3.6 off-road; we use only my Rubicon for that. I will say that I wouldn’t hesitate to take hers off-road too, with its build. We have two Jeeps because we love them, and they are good post-hurricane vehicles to have. We live out in the country swamps of FL. Navigating into town after a hurricane from our farm is a lot better in lifted Jeeps with good rubber under them. Speaking of which, I may have to put the shutters up in a day or two.

I have a buddy a few towns over with a Rubi on 37s and stock gearing, who we wheel with (@Buckster), and he does just fine too.
