HTF do i tighten this?!

I picked up a 2 5/16” hitch at home depot for my travel trailer. For a weight distribution kit im going to put on it.

HD doesnt sell any sockets or wrenches large enough to tighten the nut. The biggest they have is 1.5” i cant even use a tool to find out what size it is.

i put a measuring tape on it and it appears to be 1 7/8”

it says to tighten to 450 ft lbs!! So forget an adjustable wrench like HD lady was suggesting.

i know people have trailers here and many DIYers so how do i tighten this thing? Anyone know the actual size? I just bought a monster impact gun and torque wrench.

With two of these... Crescent 18 in. Chrome Adjustable Wrench AC218VS - The Home Depot Don't sweat the torque value. Tighten till the lock washer is flat.

Grip it and rip it!

Not sure why that needs to go to 450 ft lbs when it has a locking washer. I've never seen that bolt work loose.

We used 2 adjustable crescent wrenches. Was a pain to do.

I have the same thing - I think mine is 1-13/16. I think.

I've been towing big travel trailers for 30 years, never used a torque wrench on a ball. Just use a breaker bar and pipe and crank it down with all you got - let the big-ass lock washer do the rest.

Use the German spec of gutentite with some red locktite and youre fine.
