I know I know, me of all people. But I do like saving a buck, so that is what this is about.

I'm at 60,000 mi now, nearing the point in time when I'm going to swap out for the CPX.

My understanding of the HPFP recall, is that they will replace other things beyond just the HPFP, if they need to be replaced.

So for those of you who have had the recall completed, what do you think the likelihood would be that they will replace the fuel rails, injectors, and tubes on top of the HPFP if I were to bring it in for the recall?

The tubes are not terribly complicated. Realistically under $400 for the set, and I could do it myself in a couple hours, if that. I'm assuming the rails aren't terribly complicated either, though I don't really know much about how to replace them. Don't know much about the injectors either, but I'm sure those are a little more difficult to replace.

I know if I call the dealership and ask them if they will replace the lines, injectors, and rails as well, they'll say the same BS they do to everybody "bring it in and we can give you a better understanding of one needs to be replaced". :swear:

I'm not about to trust some 18-year-old snot nosed brat who barely graduated in high school to work on my $50,000 vehicle unless it's guaranteed to save me a couple thousand dollars in the process.

Last thing I would ever do is bring my Jeep in with the possibility that they only replace the HPFP. Because at the end of the day I'm going to replace whatever's in there, regardless of what's in there, with the CPX. 🤷‍♂️ (unless of course there was already a CPX in there :CWL:;))

Wouldn't you need to restore yours to somewhat close to factory before taking it in?
Just a PCM swap. Nothing more. :like:

Everything else is in place. Until I do a further tune, it's easier to only have to swap a PCM back and forth. :whew:

They only replaced my cp4 with another cp4, no fuel lines or anything at 95k miles. The rumor is this one is pinned so the cam lobe doesn’t spin but who knows.
Dealer didn’t bat an eye at the modifications so don’t worry about swapping computers.

I had mine replaced, prior to tune. All they did was replace the pump and nothing more. They are only replacing the injectors, lines, etc IF the original grenaded and sent shards throughout the system. If your running fine, which last time we saw each other you were, all you are getting is a pump.

Just had the recall done on mine (79k miles). They replaced the fuel rails, injectors, lines, and pump.

I think it depends on the inspection though. If they find some metal in your system, they do it all. When I took it in first, they did a once-over and determined what they needed to do. Had to order some parts, so I took it back and brought it in later. Jeep ran fine between diagnosis and replacement - took it on a trip from SC to Idaho.

(well, fuel-wise it ran fine... the exhaust system is another story - the DPF detonated and blew a hole in the exhaust)
