I have used JSCAN to change some settings for my Wrangler. But the settings have not changed anything. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I have connected the OBDLink MX+ correctly (it is powered up) and it connects to my phone via bluetooth just fine. I have the ignition in the “run” position (motor not running). I have a paid license.

I make the changes I want and press “go” after each change and the program accepts the change.

I switch the ignition to “off”, and leave the OBDLink MX+ connected. I open and close the driver’s door and wait 5 minutes. Then I disconnect from the OBDLink MX+ and reconnect the wires to OEM configuration.

What am I missing here? Do I need to use the “reset ECM” button at some point?

Sounds like you're not bypassing the security gateway.

This can be done with cables linked above, or a tazer with sgw lock set to no.

Then any jscan updates will write

I am using a security bypass cable. See link above.

I also have the Tazer Mini JL product and I will try that today. If it does not work, then maybe the security bypass cable I am using is defective.

I was wondering about using the "reset ECU" option in the menus after I have used the "Go" button after each change and after the software confirms that it has accepted the change -- even though all instructions I have read do not include doing that -- and I am reluctant to do that.

I don't use JSCAN often enough but I will say I never had to reset the ECM to change the axle gearing or the few other settings I've changed, so I don't think I would do that.

What setting did you change ?
Not all change are "supported" Also can be operator error AKA like when I changed my DRL and checked my result with the handbrake applied.... ya needless to say none of my change where visible...

Are you using a Chrysler 12+8 cable plugged into the SGW, and plugging OBDLink into the 12+8? Are you changing the settings through the “ADAPTATION” selection on the jscan?

I changed the TPMS threshold down to 25psi for both the front and rear tires; I turned off the seat belt alarm; and I changed the fog lights so that they will work on high beam as well as low beam. That's all. None of the changes stuck despite hitting the "go" button and getting an acknowledgment from the software for each change.

I am also using the ZAutomotive cable extension so that plugging in an unplugging the SGW is easier.

I have another thought -- my son-in-law unplugged the connectors *behind* the OBD2 port I think, when he should have unplugged the connectors *above* (and harder to get to) the OBD2 port. If my guess is correct, then the extension cord and SGW would be plugged into connectors that lead to nothing. Does this sound like a possibility? I am an old and arthritic guy and it is pretty hard for me to get under there to look but I will try that later today.

See photo: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...teway-extension-cable-use-explained-➿.111159/

I'll just say that if it wasn't a painful struggle to get the connectors out, they're the wrong ones.
