The manual says you can safely exit the vehicle settings menu by holding the left arrow and tapping the cruise "res" button. However, another section describes a Partial Reboot, and you do the exact same thing. Ignition is on but engine is not running (need this for vehicle settings).

I then hold the left arrow and tap the cruise "res" button and instead of exiting the menu safely as described, it performs a partial reboot.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

For me the button that works to exit the Tazer menu is the #6 (on my Jeep, it looks like the no. 2 but is a bit different!).
On the other hand I don't have #5 and #7

When I try to exit it seems as though it does nothing and the audio menu screen usually remains blank or lines of info are missing. It drives me nuts. Notice on the left it shows:

Artist - Pop Evil
Song - Take it All
Station - SXM Octane

On the right it shows nothing after using and attempting to exit the Tazer menu.

Ok, I went through 2 batteries to stupidly figure this out.
1- Take your key FOB out of the vehicle and place some distance away. This will make the jeep go into standby otherwise it is basically alays on if the FOB is withing range.

2-Tazer Change settings with the left controls on steering wheel to Audio. Press and hold the Left button on the Left steering wheel control and while holding press the "CANCEL" button on the right side of the steering wheel. You will see light show. Puch the cruise control on/off button to scroll through menus. If you push resume it will want to do a partial reboot (dont do this, well I prefer not too).
3-Tazer exit and this is no kidding. Look it up. Scroll to the reboot screen and do a full reboot, about 2+minutes. Dont touch anything until its done. When its done Start the jeep and it will start and then shut off (normal). with your foot off the brake press the start button until its like you are exiting the vehicle. Open the door and close, wait for the display to go blank and then press start twice (no foot on brake) Hold down left key on left of wheel and Cancel at the same time on the right side of wheel, scroll all the way through to reboot and reboot again. When done get out let the display shut off and restart. Iserious about rebooting twice, its some fluke with the JL I guess. But my jeep was never really "Off" til I did this.

LEFT ARROW + RES on mine activates winch mode. I'm trying to figure out how you are supposed to exit the taser menu myself and I'm not having a whole lot of luck at the moment.

If you want your Tazer truly 'off', simply unplug it, and reconnct the Gateway Security Module. As long as it remains 'married', (even unplugged) it will retain all of the 'non-live' parameters you may have set. Such as tire size, etc.

Just perform a full reboot, do the 'two sleep cycle' dance with your FOB far away or in a Faraday Cage. Remove the Tazer, plug the harness back into the (GSM), start the ignition and then go do your Jeeping thing.

With the Tazer in your pocket, you'll have no worry that it is indeed 'off'.

Happy tazering,
Jay

Right but our fear is of doing that if its still trying to write information to the system. So we want to cancel BEFORE unplugging it.

if i made any changes on the Tazer, i always do the full double reboot, with my keyfob wrapped in foil so the J**p doesn't 'hear' it.
it's the only method i've tried that works 100% of the time without having to walk the keyfob 2 blocks away and around a corner.

I was originally using small faraday pouches to store our vehicle keys in general, but ended up just getting a small faraday box on Amazon we keep on top of the frig and throw all our keys in. It came with the pouches as well.
