How much $$$ would it cost to do all these mods?

Get the Rubicon and the XR package, it's a great deal, you'll be set if you aren't planning on modding any further - throw some 37's on it when you get bored. Factor in Labor, parts, your time, etc. and also, the 4:1 transfercase that comes with the Rubicon.
Fine! I'll do it.

People who are going on old mining roads, poorly maintained rural roads, camping, light to moderate trails, etc. will be fine with a Sport or Sahara.

Buy the correct tool for the job.
This is nonsense. We literally went to Gold Mountain, Big Bear last month and took a bone stock willys 2 door with us. The driver had been wheeling maybe 5 times before. He did just fine. A jeep is a jeep. I did lvl 5~7 trails with my stock sport. My sport with 33s also did gold mountain without that much problem really.

You can do black diamond trails with a sport and really isnt that bad. The only thing you shouldnt do is extreme stuff like lite brite shit where they rollover jeeps and stuff.

Excellent.

I guess the Rubicon Trail and Black Bear Pass are next. Remember to post pictures.

LOL black bear pass isnt even hard. Gold Mountain is way harder. The Rubicon trail is totally doable, just too long for me rnow.

Seriously dude stop posting crap you dont know. Go out wheeling.

Lockers are the only thing I don't know about.

Regear is ~$2k
35s (wheels and tires) ~$2250
At least a 2" lift ~$1.5k
Quick disconnect ~$150

So you're at ~$6-7K in just parts depending on what lockers run.

Figure ~$1K labor.

You're at ~$8k ballpark. Rough ballpark, depending on which lift, tires, wheels, etc you want. This is probably the low end.

You would be better served just getting a Rubicon Xtreme Recon, tbh. Custom order for ~6-8% off invoice.

Maybe spend ~$5K more but you get factory install and full warranty on everything, plus a truckload of other upgrades (axles, interior, resale, etc).
This is pretty accurate. I got a quote todo exactly what you want todo. I think it came in at over $9k (2010 JKU). With lockers and air setup.

About a week later I traded my JKU in in a 21 JLUR

Combination of a lot of things. I made some big changes last year, sold my WRX, paid off my Harley, and paid off my house with the plan being to buy a 3/4 ton truck and trailer to tow the Jeep, and build out the Jeep with one tons and 40s. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I would be dumping a bunch of money into a rig that I would never get back. A Jeep that was limited by wheelbase as much as axles. (the 2 door gets tippy off road compared to the unlimited) And I could rent a lot of Uhaul's to haul a broken Jeep back home for the price of one super duty. I also liked the idea of having extra room in a 4 door.

Then Jeep came out with the Xtreme Recon Package, and made it an easy decision for me. If I could get upgraded axles, brakes, gearing, beadlocks, tailgate reinforcement, etc. from the factory all in with the vehicles VIN number it would actually make the Jeep worth more. The idea of having a daily driver on 37's that I could wheel a couple times a year and get my money back on the back end means that I could trade out every 5-6 years like a normal vehicle. Building a JLUR XR isn't a money pit trail rig that I'll be stuck with forever. It doesn't require me to buy a 3/4 ton truck and trailer, it keeps my driveway from being crowded. I don't have to tow a trailer on vacation, and I have extra space in my Jeep. Win/win/win.

So... I did it ?

Edit: Oh, and the used car market was POPPIN dude, I got more than MSRP for my 2 year old Jeep that I wheeled. Like, it wasn't a show car, that thing was a trail rig and I got more than I paid for it.
