We ended up driving home from moab at 20psi at freeway speeds up to 85mph...1100 miles. Forgot my compressor was borrowed by a buddy and not in the Jeep where it usually is. Stopped at 3 different service stations leaving town at 1:30am, none had a working compressor. Decided to hit the road. Every fuel stop was the same story, either someone camping at the compressor or it was non-functioning. Ended up driving all the way home. Same 37s lasted 35k+ miles after that trip for a total of ~50k miles so if it had an impact on tire wear is say it was miniscule at best.
The nice thing about a 4 wheel air hose system like the Speedflate is that in a scenario like this, you can keep your spare at 40 psi (as your reserve air storage) and then if you have 4 tires at 20 psi, you can use the Speedflate to equalize 4 of them to 25 psi for the drive back.

I run my tires at 28-30psi aired up and typically air down to 15psi. In moab traction is so good you can get away with 20psi and freely drive between trails and even on the freeway without issue.

I agree. 25 psi would give you a little less worry however driving 85mph on pavement for 1,100 miles though. Glad to hear that you made it back ok. If you air down to 15 with a 40 psi spare, you can at least bring them up to 21.25 for the road without a compressor.

From my house to my local trail is 7 miles of pavement @ 45mph, then another 7 miles of dirt road. I run this back and forth all the time aired down to 18-20psi.

Friends of mine live in Nags Head, NC drives on the beach all the time without airing down, no issues.

I think for the most part when you get into a D or E rated tire, the Jeep is just not heavy enough to cause a bunch of heat build up into the tire when aired down at 20 psi to really impact a huge difference in wear.

22 psi is about where you should be on 37s anyway. The tire industry load charts show 37x12.5r17 is rated to carry a load of 2,150 pounds per tire @ 25 PSI at the max speed rating for the tire. The charts don't go lower, but I'm sure at 20 PSI you were still safe to support the Jeep's weight at highway speeds.

Another option is the Morrflate, similar to the Speedflate system. You can use your existing wheels and tires and inflate or deflate all 4 tires at once. This, mixed with a good air pump, works very well. Used it several times this year on Assateague Island.
