How low can I go on my factory tires (BFG 315.70.17) JLU XR before the TPMS dash light comes on? What's the low set limit?

JLUR 6sp ordered 11/3/21, picked up 8/30/22
They're set from the factory at 37 and will alert at, I think, 35.
If you want to change that setting, use a Tazer.

Warning at 28psi, must inflate to 37psi to get it turned off. Real PITA! Got 35/12.50’s, 32psi, cold night-warning. Several different psi attempts over more than a week to find one acceptably low without cold morning warning. About to give up and get a Tazer (25 psi warning) when I tried 34psi hot tires, settled in at ~32 and no further morning warnings for a few months now. Reason unknown, but it worked.

I'm at 33 cold right now. So far, no dash warning light.

About 8% below is when it will trigger. As mentioned if you want to go lower you can get a Tazer and change the threshold much lower.
As mentioned, the warning light should trigger around 28 PSI.

Most TPMS systems are configured at 25% below the placard pressure.
No they are not. The LAW is they must trigger at 25% or less. NO OE manufacturers use this.

For all the facts are this. The LAW is that they MUST trigger at 25% under the door placard. Having said that all OE manufacturers set their trigger at different %'s so it varies by alot. The lowest any set it to is 10% and that is Honda. The reason is TPMS is not perfect. Even if they set it at say 10% the light may come on at 8 or even 12. They all make sure they are well above the 25% law.

The above FACTS come directly from OE TPMS manufacturer.

Why do you ask?

My experience is different than some others have mentioned. I've aired down to 14psi and then back up to 35psi and the notification turned off on the dash. I have the Tazer and it's set to 25psi but at 24psi it hasn't turned on the notification.

I wanted to know how low can I go on my factory tires (BFG 315.70.17) JLU XR before the TPMS dash light comes on. What's the low set limit?

My Jeep came from the dealer with 39psi in the tires. I figured 32 would be better than 39 or 37 (based on what I've been reading on this forum, and no I haven't done the chalk test). Right now (last time I checked) I was at 33psi (yeah; I'm kinda playing). This psi is for pavement driving; off-road I've been known to go to the low teens (in my TJ anyways; don't really plan on doing hard-core off-roading in my new JLU).

Sure, makes sense. The door panel says 37psi (at least on my JLUR). You could always just run 32psi and drive and if it comes on it comes on, the police won’t get you.;)

However, I wouldn’t run my tires at the lowest possible setting before TPMS lights on the dash. There’s a reason the chose the number they did. But that’s just one man’s opinion.
