Here's my preferred cabin lighting while night driving:

For reference, because you can't see much below the front window, here's my interior cabin with the aftermarket footwell lighting illuminated, and the interior lights brightened up a little bit.

Not into interior vehicle lighting/ambient lighting at all. If it's there, I'll turn the brightness down as much as possible at night. If it's not, I'm not missing it

I don't mind ambient lighting in home theater environments and such, but the craze for lighting up vehicles inside in some makes is a bit much

Some makes like MB go over the top and make it feel like you're sitting in a nightclub

But it looks sooo cool.

Straight up. If you're an eager lad and you're trying to impress your girl, and "get you some", ambient lighting and the nightclub vibe is fantastic for that. But otherwise, it's extremely blinding and in my opinion dangerous to have too bright of an interior!

I learned from a co-worker who used to operate with the Navy, red interior lights wont mess up your shooting eyes at night. Plus when you get out of your vehicle at the convenience store off the highway, nobody will mess with you because you look like a psychopath with the red satanic interior lighting. People just assume you have bodies in your trunk!

As for interior Jeep lighting: One of my interior lighting rheostats goes from 0 to 6 percent, and then the last click turns the headlights around and shines them in my face. The other rheostat does absolutely nothing. I'm guessing it was pirated from a child's Busy Box. ...All of which which is precisely what I would expect out of crooks from the Netherlands, low-bid engineering from Mumbai, and electronics cobbled together from an off-brand Chinese crock pot.

So this is the modern age of dating, huh? Money will get you some, but man if you got ambient lighting in ya whip, women be falling all over themselves to get with you

The worst part about all the lights and or screens in the vehicle. Sometimes you think you got a cop on your ass about to pull you over. Then you sitting there thinking wtf did I do, just to realize your kids are watching something in the back seat on maximum brightness with the whole color spectrum flashing (kids movies are very vibrant in color use and dazzling lights).

I had to look up this pic. That's James H. Howard who became an Ace in the Pacific and European theaters in WWII. I happen to be reading "The Flying Tigers" but I am only at the point in the book where it's about two weeks after Pearl Harbor so Mr. Howard had no kills yet.

When driving at night, I'll recurringly use the rheostat to dim the dashboard lighting to the extent possible. Having the analog HVAC dials makes it easy to perform on-the-fly adjustments by touch and not sight, so that's no factor.

Sometimes I'll even use the relevant button to fully extinguish the Uconnect screen, if only to be surprised by what song plays next when I'm using the USB drive.

The only lights I want to see are the headlights illuminating the road in front of me. That is sufficient to the moment.

Let MB and others that do the same have the market that they're obviously chasing. Just keep away from our Wranglers.

I've been wanting to put a Confederate flag on the tailgate for a minute, but I'll probably just wait till I move a little further out into the country. There's enough people in Anna who already seem to think the Dixie Horn is racist somehow , I think adding a Confederate flag on top of that is just going to get me a whole lot of flat tires.
