Hey everybody. I’ve read a lot of posts and have finally made an account to ask a question. I have a 2021 Wrangler JL 4 door and am trying to hook the Clinometer light up to the headlight switch so it turns on the same as headlights. I took the trim and switch off but I’m not sure what wire is the one I splice in the Clinometer. I’ve read the wiring diagrams and I can’t seem to figure it out. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks

I doubt that I can answer your question, but I'm not sure what Clinometer light you'd be referring to.

The Clinometer has an electric hook up for a background little. So if it is dark/cloudy or whatever reason that I need the headlights on, I’d like that to have the little back light. It has nothing to do with the Clinometer, just a way to see the tilt in darker conditions.

Is this all models, or just Rubicons? I don't remember ever seeing this on the Sports etc that I have rented...

I was under the impression that it's included with "offroad pages", which I in turn thought was included with all "trail rated" Jeeps, which is all wranglers. I could be wrong though?

It took me a while to discover that the clinometer gauges can be displayed on the instrument cluster (not just the infotainment screen, and also not just when the offroad pages app is open). It's buried fairly deep in the instrument cluster pages.

OP, see pictures below:

Going back to OP's question about the aftermarket clinometer backlight, assuming you either don't have the built-in clinometer feature described above or just don't want to use it, the simplest way I can think of is to use a fuse tap to connect it to the headlight fuse, but then you'd have to route it through the firewall. I'm not sure if there are any headlight wires behind the dash that could be tapped into or not.

This is probably the most correct answer to the question. There might also be a lighting wire in the dash, but that would require a vampire clip or cutting and installing a tee splice, so the fuse tap is the better option.

The problem with going through the firewall, which I have done for other things, is the wire for the Clinometer isn’t long enough. It is just long enough to reach the headlight switch. That is why I’m trying to connect it to a wire under the dash

Any other thoughts or should I run a longer wire to do a fuse tap on the headlight fuse?

Vehicles equipped with the 7" digital dash (not radio) have it.

Vehicles with the 8.4" radio also have one in Off Road Pages.

Easiest thing to do is just extend the wire and run to that fuse.

I’ve looked at that diagram but I can’t figure out what color wire goes from the switch to the headlight.
