I agree and did this with a Curt hitch marketed as fitting the "JK". Bottom line, don't remove the plate! I also reused the two factory bolts that held it on. On the wiring harness, etrailer.com is coming out with an option soon. It calls for a wire run directly to the battery but hoping to wire it to the aux power outlet instead.
