Hey all I have a daily driven 22 rubicon 4 door, 3.6 manual.
Looking to lift. What’s highest I can go without having to do major changes to other aspects of the Jeep (steering etc)?
***not looking to do hardcore off road if. It’ll be mostly on street. Maybe a weekend here and there on a few light trails***
Also, what lift you guys recommend?
AEV/Metalclok/Teraflex ST3 3.5 sport/Mopar?
***also, plan to run 37x12.5 tires on a 17 inch wheel

I would say 2". I have AEV 2" spacer lift and Mopar longer lower control arms right now and its great. I will switch to real lift soon, but I do off-road and would like to have more articulation.

Not looking for a spacer lift. Didn’t really answer my questions bud. But thank you anyway

Dynatrac endurosport is a very popular lift with great street manners according to many on here. Very positive reviews and comes with everything needed in the kit

Mopar lift with aftermarket track bars. Will net you about 3" on a stock Rubicon. More than sufficient for whatever it is you want to lift for. After that height you need to start looking at driveshafts and adjustable control arms.

I did the 2.5" AEV (I think?) lift. Done at the dealer the first week I had the Jeep. Did it on my 2013 JK and went for 75k flawless miles with 33's, then another 60 flawless miles with 35's

When begin to go beyond 2 in you start changing your geometry, the higher you go the more impact it has on handling.. That said, daily driver? Highway speeds? Off-road only? Sonic Drive-In lift? Mudder, rock guy, just overland or??

In the early 2000s there were: 6, 8 and 10 inch lifts for TJs..you might note no more!

If you want a lift, then the AEV 2" or even the Jeep/MOPAR 2" is a solution, and so is Dynatrac 2". These 3 are the most and best engineer lifts, out there, they would be my choice.

Ok so the highest I can go is 3 inches before dealing with driveshafts and stuff. That’s key!

So 2” is highest I can go? Was hoping a bit higher height before driveshaft control arm territory

I thought Mopar lift is only 2 inches

The quoted height gains are usually way wrong and you kind of just need to go by photos of similarly equipped rigs with the lift you want. The Mopar 2" is higher than a handful of 2.5" lifts and all of them net quite a bit more than 2" or 2.5" anyways. My advice would probably be avoid lifts quoting 3.5" and 37" tires if you don't want to do lots of additional work and upgrades and instead stick with a 2/2.5" and 35s setup. Plenty high and aggressive looking with not as much change to factory geometry and ride quality.

The difference between a $3k Metalcloak Gamechanger 2.5" and a $1300 Mopar 2" mostly isn't ride height, it's ride quality+performance as well as items included. I'd say both of these lifts net a similar level of lift, but the metalcloak includes beefier control arms with their incredible bushings for an arguably softer ride on road and more flex off road, front and rear track bars to center your axle properly after lift, and dual rate springs that will better compensate for a fully loaded jeep without sagging. They also suggest a front driveshaft but I have not seen a need for that even with lots of off roading. If you go 2.5" and aren't regularly flexing your front axle to the absolute maximum you'll never need an aftermarket front driveshaft. I'm still on my stocker and I wheel it almost every weekend.

All that said, if you're not planning on doing a lot of technical off roading you may not need a $3k lift, but I trust Metalcloak's geometry and engineering to keep my Jeep handling nice at a non-factory ride height, and I've seen their bushings show no sign of wearing out going on three years in some buddy's rigs who wheel the absolute piss out of them.

You MAY be able to go higher, but I can assure you not much because of the impact on the front-end geometry, it changes the operating angles. This is where the better kits beyond 2 for sure will have modification brackets.

AEV has a 2.5 lift in standard capacity and in high capacity

Take a look at this: https://www.aev-conversions.com/product/jl-2-5-dualsport-rt-suspension/

if you want top go 3 in they can do that also.

NOTE the pics of what all goes into these lifts when the company that is building it KNOWS suspension!

Suspension is my game and I will assure you it's not how high you lift, but how you lift it high.

Just show you, here is a TJ I built for a 3.5 in lift, which is as HIGH as I will lift, there is no need to go beyond that. There are OTHER tricks in the bag that can turn a 3.5 lift into a 5 inch.

Note how parallel the suspension is and it is raised to top of the Dynatrac axle line. But I did not like the curved track bar so...pic 2 and you see what I did fab this up to get it parallel and a STRAIGHT track bar.

IIRC this pic here was in the Dynatrac catalog.

This pic is the fab to relocate the steering box, then drop the Trackbar bracket to get the track bar straight and parallel with the rest of the raised

By the time you get it raised 2.5" your front axles will be about 3/4" offset to the driver side and your rear axle will be offset about 3/4" to the passenger side and your caster will probably be 5* or less.

From your stated use, you should probably leave the suspension stock and just add nice looking wheels and tires.

If only there was a subforum with hundreds of threads dedicated to everything suspension related. If only.....
