I received the below warning light and message this afternoon and again this evening while driving. Two weeks ago I had to replace my battery, so I used a H7 from Walmart. While I was changing the battery I went ahead and disconnected the aux battery cable and pulled fuse F42. I then went into JScan and disabled start/stop (as far as I know). No warning lights or anything from then until today. Start/stop never occurred at any red light or stop sign.

I'm not saying this is the problem but to my knowledge J-scan or tazer will not eliminate ESS.

Why would it start doing this now? I followed the guidance from a few posts on the forum about bypassing the aux battery and disabling ESS.

I'm just guessing here but I would use J-scan and undo whatever you did regarding the ESS and see if it clears the warning lights.

I will try undoing with JScan. I still don’t understand why today is the first time it gave me the light.

I know weird right, but if it clears your warning light you're in business. Auto start/stop eliminator and you're good. ?

I have the auto start/stop eliminator and I get this light for about 5-10 secs, at initial startup but then it goes off.

Why spend money, when your Jeep just did it for you for free!! Now you just got to learn to not give a **** about the warning message!

I can tell you from personal experience, you get used to the warning messages eventually. Took me about 2 weeks before I stopped caring that my key fob was missing, and that my turn signal lights are going out, also for a year my hood was supposedly open. ?‍♂ Now I have a red security light on at all times.

I’m really trying to avoid paying $100 for the eliminator. I will see if I can clear the warning light with the JScan, then go from there.

J-scan is good, it keeps your settings saved even when you disconnect. The ESS eliminator IMO was worth every penny. You have it for as long as you own your jeep, and you can peddle it if you sell.

Best of luck buddy

@Terrymo

Oh sh*t, wrong Terry!! ?‍♂

@Terry R

I got a start stop eliminator for my wifes Subaru Forester Sport, it was $99. It took me some psyching up to make that purchase, and while I'm reluctant to say it was a good purchase, I haven't had to think about it a single time since. Auto start stop been off for over two years in my wifes Subaru.

I'm just pissed the manufacturer force me to purchase a $99 product to disable a terrible feature they forced down my throat! Beyond that it its a quality part!

The money will be soon forgotten if being forced to push the button bothers you. I know some people don’t care, but it’s an annoying first world problem ?

Disconnecting negative cable and pulling fuse does not stop ESS. It will try and use the large battery for this. If using Jscan you need to read carefully because you also have to pull the hood pin switch. There are two, you want the far driver side one. BTW pulling this will also disable remote start. If you don't want all this hassle, your best bet is to get the ESS eliminator kit and plug that in. Good luck.
