I have a dealers warranty for 2 more months, an extended warranty and the Jeep powertrain warranty. It stopped leaking. I just drove it for 2 hrs going to wait till it cools then check it. More than likely it will be low. If so, bringing it back to dealer. The coolant temp at high speed was 220. Is this too high?
Make sure this issue has been resolved before the warranty ends. If you can get them to verify that no heat related damage has been done, that would be good.

As @oldcjguy has suggested, you may have to watch for a while. If the problem persists, ask for a replacement engine.

Keep us updated.

I bought a 2019 jlu 2.0 w/ etorque with just under 60k CPO. I had same problem, coolant disappearing with no visible leaks and no oil in water. Eventually started running rough and diagnosed coolant in cylinder 2. After dealer tore it down the block itself was warped and motor had to be replaced. Thank god it was still under warranty but I was without my jeep for 3 months. These motors run extremely hot as I've seen my coolant temp climb to 235 pulling a long grade and frequently 225. When my warranty expires i'll be getting rid of it as I don't think these motors have a long life and run way to hot in my opinion. Good Luck

Here is the contradiction.

You will see a lot of older Jeeps on the road. They are durable and last a long time. They maintain their resale value and there is good demand for them. However, there are some known issues that you need to watch out for.

Frow what I have seen, the quality of the manufacturing varies significantly from one unit to the next. Some owners have no significant issues. Some owners have a number significant issues.

The trick is to identify the problem areas and get them fixed or replaced while the vehicle is under warranty. If you do this, you should be okay.

Over time, some of these issues are addressed in the manufacturing process and appear less frequently. Others linger on for years.

This issue with the disappearing coolant has been around for a while. Based on the feedback from members on the forum, it appears to be the result of cracks that allow the coolant to escape into the engine.

If it happens to you, request a new engine during the warranty period and take if from there.

Most people on the forum love Jeeps and will keep on buying them.

You were probably low on coolant (lower than the reservoir) and got some air in the system. As you filled the tank and drive the air gradually bleeds out lowering the level in the reservoir. Keep an eye on it to be sure, but you're probably fine. I had a similar issue when new. I added coolant and it seemed to drain out. I added more until it stopped and it's been solid for 2 years now.
This is certainly a plausible scenario.

I previously mentioned a crack coolant bottle. Well, I just got around to replacing mine and learned a bit more of how its setup that I don't remember reading here or elsewhere. I figured I'd relay that in case anyone finds this in a search later.

I assumed the bottle wasn't pressurised, but after looking at everything closer, it certainly is. The cap is rated to 21psi and there is a tiny weep hole in the threads of the cap that once the cap opens, pressure is bled through a hole that goes through the middle of the tank to underneath it. Since it's inside, there's no real indication of how this works till you see the exit hole in the bottom.

I'm my case (3.6), I'm thinking I let the coolant run low (over 60k+ miles) and the car got air in the system. Once I refilled it the air was trapped in the system, got very hot, built pressure and escaped through the vent while blowing out a bit of coolant (why I thought I had a leak.

The fact that OPs problem has just stopped, makes me think this was the case. Simply all the air has been replaced with coolant and they're back to the way it was designed.

Another possibility is their cap is bad and venting before pressure is built causing a boil over and draining liquid.

One way to test this could be to simply wrap ing the bottle in foil so it collects evidence of the coolant dripping out.

These are my current thoughts and I'll update the thread in the future is I learn otherwise.

This seems to be the case. It is good that you are okay now.

After skimming through the post this sounds like the issue I'm currently having.

21 JLR 43K miles with the 2.0T. About two months ago I was pulling out of the car wash and the temp gauge went to 245*, as soon as I gave it gas it went back to normal range ~197* ish. I thought it was strange and kept an eye on it for the next couple of weeks with no issues. Fast forward a few weeks and the same thing happened again. got home and crawled all over it looking for signs of a leak. Nothing in the engine bay, no smells of coolant, no stains on the garage floor.....nothing, so I called my friend (Jeep service manager) he said bring it in so they can look into it. I dropped it off on 28 June, so far, they can't seem to find it and have elevated it with Jeep to see what next steps are. He said they've seen this before and the issue was coolant leaking into cyl #2, which ended up being a total engine replacement. Waiting for an answer sucks since we have a trip to Windrock and the SMJI planned for next month. I'm hopeful that it will be done in time, but as the days go by it's looking like we may need to go with plan B.

I had just gotten the Jeep, 42,000 miles. It ended up that it was VERY low on coolant. I had to add pints over the course of 3 days. Now it's fine.

Yours I'd still covered under the powertrain warranty.

1.) Do not try head gasket sealer or anything alike, will be the end of your engine.
2.) Head gasket's happen, that's why you have warranty, If you aren't letting your vehicle overheat, it is unlikely.

I have a JL in the shop currently that is about to get torn down for a head/head gasket, their failure wasn't that though, it was actually the rad cap was defective and releasing at too low of a temperature, but the customer would could keep driving it after the coolant would be low and let it overheat multiple times, eventually the head gasket went even though, like I said, it wasn't the original failure.
