Does the dealer that I ordered my Jeep through have to drive it first? They are claiming that they need to test drive it for 8-10 miles before I get it.

FWIW, my Jeep had 3 miles on it. Nobody drove it except for the shipping folks.

That's what I was expecting to hear. I don't want a bunch of yahoo's dogging out my engine just because it's the first turbo on their lot.

Where are the off roading pages already? @JeepCares
Hi yz kid,

I reached out to an internal resource to get some sort of update and was told a release date is still being worked on. You can always check back for any new development and I'll reach out to them.

Thanks,

AT&T trial Wi-Fi service...

So I activated the trial Wi-Fi service on my new Rubicon JLU. According to the trial, It should be for 3 months. However, I've owned the Jeep only 3 weeks and they are sending me a note saying my trial has ended and I have to pick a plan. Is this just a bait and switch?

Thank you. We bought the JL as a toad behind our motorhome. No problems and a fun to drive vehicle except for that horrible A/C fan noise. I at first thought the dealer was jerking my chain when he said it is normal. But, not according to posts in the JL forum.
My question is....does Chrysler find this to be acceptable? Do they plan to do anything about it? Why is it necessary for the fan to make that much noise?
The fan noise is correct. All the Jeeps do it, I joke that I have a nuclear generator supplying power to it. The first time I heard it I was shocked. The reason (I suspect) is because the JK model was known for getting too hot under the hood. That is why you see the side fender vents and have a crazy powerful fan on the JL.
When you have max ac on the fan is at it's loudest, as you dial the blower motor down in the cabin the engine fan decreases with it. So kick it back off 7 to 5 and it will be much quieter.
I don't know if you are familiar with the Tazer but it will actually allow you to program the fan to stay on after the Jeep is off to help continue to cool the engine. Personally I find that very desirable because I don't give a rip about the sound, I just want a cool engine.

Yep, it's called a Prius. :)

I don't know of any active noise control... it's a Jeep. Just wait until you hear the A/C cooling fan that's under the hood. It sounds like a jet engine taking off. There is an acoustic windshield that comes with the Alpine stereo system.

@JeepCares
There is definitely ANC on some Wranglers. The marketing info is confusing and contradicting to what the dealer said. Original marketing said all JL models with Infotainment and Alpine. Dealer said only 2.0T JL with Alpine. I am trying to get firm info on which models, engine, package is required to get it. So far I have only seen it on a 2.0T Sahara Unlimited with Alpine. I know about the acoustic windshield. I got a ear full of the radiator fan on a 95 degree day. I get it's a Jeep…had a TJ and JK. Had a Prius too! Thanks.

Well, if my 3.6 has it, I doubt it makes a ding dong bit of difference. It doesn't seem any quieter than my JK. Only smoother, and the JK has less wind noise with the hard top on it. I'm still betting it is a 4 cylinder deal that neutralizes some of the buzzing/droning of an inline 4. The V6 is smooth and quiet enough without it. It sounds about the same as my buddy's JK with the 3.6.

I agree the 3.6 is pretty quiet and smooth. Definitely more refined, smoother, quieter then the 2.0 on my short back to back test drives. 2.0 owners will have to pay to get the ANC though. I am fairly certain only the 2.0 with Alpine and Infotainment has ANC for the reasons you mentioned. That means perspective 2-door, 2.0 turbo buyer will need to buy a loaded up Rubicon if they want ANC. I only test drove a 2.0 for 20 minutes but some owners are reporting conflicting reports about noise. Maybe one had ANC and the other does not? One 2.0 owner is reporting belt whine, which very well could be the wider drive belt for the e-Torque. Personally I think I was hearing classic turbo whistle-whine in the 2.0 JL I drove. The 2.0 I drove definitely had ANC.

A quick way to tell if you have ANC is to look for the small microphones in the roll bar and other areas of the interior cabin. That's what I think anyway?

Hopefully someone from Jeep will reply back with definitive answers about what models have them.
