Hi all I purchased my first Jeep last week...2019 White Sahara Unlimited. Loving it so far but one of the first things I want to do is install a headliner. My hardtop is all white (inside and out) so I would like to use a white headliner. I have found 2 options online. Please let me know your thoughts on these and which you prefer or if there is a alternative. Benefits before and after? Road noise? Stereo improvement? Insulation?

Hi Josh:

I'm of the opinion that people's favorabe opinion of (their) headliners comes in large part from managing expectations of what they will deliver prior to purchase.

The best of headliners are themselves best at abating heat. Yes, they also help with noise, but less so.

So if your desire to purchase headliners is cosmetic or abating heat based then great. But if you have anything less then reasonable expectations on the levels of noise they will reduce you run the risk of being disappointed.

Love my TopLiner. I like the dark interior to match. Never cared for the white reflectivity. That's just my opinion for my needs/uses.

Those really are great, they cut down on noise, heat loss and improves in-cabin accoustics, though they can take some patience when installing.

Unfortunately they are not available in white for the OP.

how long does it take you guys to install them?

It's about 1.5-2hrs on a DYI job, professional could probably do it faster. You can get them in some colors (other than black) as well.

Also note the front/rear seat areas fit and look good however the hatch and rear section are pretty much a mess if you can't get the material to stick to the sides around the windows. Also they recommend reattaching the rear wiring plugs/panels on top of the material but the material doesn't compress enough for them to stay secured or snapped in the holes. You will break the covers trying to get them to pop-in and retain there like stock if you try to do over the material. The rear portion needs some rework/redesign imo.

Hotheads appear to be the popular choice however they don't come in white. Upon reading further I think the 2 links I supplied are the same Boom Mat item. Anyone have experience with Boo Mat headliners?

It definitely takes longer than 1.5-2 hrs unless you are really slapping it in there. I would say for the average DIY'er, plan on 4-5 hours+. And you'll really want it to set up overnight before reinstalling the top.

The key to a good instal is taking your time to pre-fit everything and then slowly installing the fabric, pushing, rolling, fitting it to get it just right.

We'd agree that the hatch and rear section can be a PITA. It would be nice to have a little extra material in there to fit and then trim.

We didn't run into the wire panel fitment issues that @Hpc3 mentioned.

I would like to know your opinion of the thermal insulation qualities? It seems thin but also the best fitting, most professional looking that I have seen.

I don't know about sound resistance or thermal resistance. I did it for aesthetics. I like the cabin to be dark all around with the bright sun we have. The material is very thin. It may help acoustics with the stereo but not much on road noise. I wouldn't be buying this expecting it to insulate or control outside noise.

The first Topliner we installed was in our marketing director's JL, he says says it definitely helped hold the heat in the cabin when it was cold out.

His biggest praise was the acoustics, he said it really cut down on resonating sounds.
