Hardtop headliner

I posted the below paragraphs below on another thread about why have a headliner. I thought it kind of applied here too.
We will be offering those small three panels on our web site soon. No price yet as I don't know what the matching fabric will cost.

I do believe the main reason that Jeep owners put in headliners is because of the heat that radiates down from the hard top. I believe that because heat was the original reason we made our headliners and because our sale increase so much in the summer. Once the outside temp hits the low 90s (if your Jeep is in the sun) your hard top hits about 170 which radiates directly onto your head. If you have plenty of hair up there you may not notice with your air turned on full, but once your hair starts thinning you will experience a hot head which is where we got our name. Headliners also help insulate against cold, quite road noise, make your stereo sound better & look much better that a bare hard top.
I do believe all the headliners on the market will make a noticeable difference in all the areas I mentioned. I also realize that headliners are not an accessory that everyone would want, but if you are curious about them take a look at our web site or give me a call. Do you have any data to support headliners reducing the internal temp and/or reducing sound inside the JL? I would buy them if there was meaningful data.

Anyone know the part number for the Mopar Headliners?

The part I ordered was:
Hard Top Headliner
PART NO. 82215133AC

Had mine installed last week after a run-around with the dealer somehow not getting it done during my 1st scheduled appointment. Not sure about the heat protection but acoustically it sounds much quieter and less echo-y overall. I also prefer the aesthetic to how it looks with the headliner installed as opposed to not having one.

Kind of a dated thread I know but FWIW I ordered the hardtop headliner on my JL. I'm coming off an old 04 TJ that did not have any headliner and it was noisy as can be. The difference is crazy! This new JL is dead silent in comparison so if you want to cut road noise and you've got the cash, I'd recommend the option.

HotHeads by a mile, I was able to compare the two side by side, the Mopar liner was like the old cardboard headliners of days gone by. HotHeads is tmade using a material that is specifically designed for sound absorbortion and also for temperature control.

I don’t know if it’s worth it or not, but living in Wyoming I wanted all the insulation I could get.

I would let you know after winter, but since I don’t know what it’s like without it, I would be lying.

first of all I live in Texas where gets over a hundred sometimes 110 4 weeks in the summer I do not have it on my JK they say all but it's different it's thinner now it be hotter I had it all summer I got my JL in July. I had no problems at all was not hot put the AC on there's no problems sound wise no difference but if you want one get the hot Head it's thicker go to YouTube and watch them comparison the guy that makes hot head has the comparison between the two even the dealer told me when it gets hot in Texas here and they go to store Jeep that's been sitting out there for a while locked up it falls. They said all it is is mm thin neoprene is names like and held on with velcro and I saw that myself it was falling in the dealership the one they had in the inside the dealership. Doesn't stick on with adhesive it's just Velcro for less money or about the same you can get the entire Jeep covered a lot better if you go to hot heads check out his website or YouTube with a shell that difference between the two I didn't see no difference without it I didn't waste the money on it until I see a difference I'm not going to worry about it and like I said I'm in Texas and Fort Worth and we get 110 degree weather sometimes four five six days even had it one time for 10 I didn't notice different this summer so I'm not worried

Wheeled an 09 2dr in the Mojave desert for many years without a hardtop liner. Had difficulty in cooling it down, feet would be freezing, heads would be sweating. And yes, the selector was set to where it needed to be. Bought the HotHeads liner with sound assassin strips and WOW what a difference in the heating/cooling and sound. When we bought our JL, this option was a no brainer for us. Not much of a price difference between the factory and Hotheads so went with the factory units. This way if there is ever a problem, roll it back in for warranty work.

if you're going to get one get the hot heads that watch the youtube video and you'll see the difference between hot head and factory..if you already didn't get it from the factory then I would for sure go with the hot head but you make the decision after watching the YouTube video where they show the comparison sjde by side

I purchased the dual tops so heat really isn't an issue for me, soft top will be on in the summer. But if someone did a road noise test with a meter before and after the headliner install that would be a great measuring stick. From say 40mph in town all the way up to 80mph on the highway. They look great for sure, but that is not enough for me to lay down $500.

I traded a JLU Sahara that had factory liners for a JLU Rubicon that does not. There is a difference in temp and sound for sure. I may go for the Hot heads with the Sound Assassin. In the comparison, the Mopar boards he demo’d seemed different than the ones that were on my Sahara. The OEM in the video had carpet texture and the ones on the Sahara had a nice headliner cloth/

I would think Jeep has data from there engineering of the option liners.

True if you're going to run a soft top in the summer what's the point of getting it

Anyone have this on a JK? I didn't order it with my JL, but a friend has highly suggested it. I'm more concerned about cutting down on noise that heat loss, etc. I've found the Mopar one online for almost half what they wanted to add it for when ordering. Just curious if it actually makes a noticeable difference. Any aftermarket ones that are better?

Short and sweet. The most likely headliner owner to be disappointed is the one that buys it primarily for noise reduction.

I'm not saying they don't help in this area, but rather that this product "cuts its teeth" at keeping heat out.

Conversely, those who acquire the product for heat reduction are most likely to demonstrate satisfaction.
