So it appears from reading through this thread, no one has one yet.

Since there has been no activity her since 2021 I don't think I'm hijacking, but expressing interest in the product (if there is one out there) and asking a question about driving with the Hard top back window open.

How many of you do that?

I'd like to do it when I open my Sunrider top to decrease the buffeting. I've read on the 4 doors venting with the back windows (in the doors). Makes it less noisy. I have no options to do that with my 2 door.

You could on shorter drives, but I'd avoid it overall generally. That's going to be killer on the struts overtime.
Or maybe try and find beefier struts? Or rig up some kind of latching system to keep it locked in the up position without bouncing the struts.

Also like, if you open the windows the buffeting shouldn't be too bad right? I don't notice it with the soft top because well...soft top.

I should clarify I don't have a hard top, only a soft top. But I know for sure the rear window strut isn't any kind of beefy resilient made for a highway trip in the up position sort of thing.

I've had these on for about a year.

Thanks. Looks like I would have to wait till the end of May to order. Any regrets, wish you had the protection on both sides. (or Do you ?).

Wish they were made in the US.

Rod
I have the guards on both sides. I wish I had drilled and tapped for the guards before they were installed as it would have been easier working from above.

I also wish I had done this sooner. I wouldn't let the foreign construction worry you. I was reassured to see they had a history with JK models and G Wagens and some other platforms.

I can also vouch that we have run the soft top with the rear window removed...no ill effects but I have heard of the sides coming off. You could unbolt your window on the hard top, or perhaps just make some kind of reinforcement rod that holds it up. Personally, the soft top is all things to me and I sold the hardtop right after I found one.

The issue with the Soft top for me is the non use of the back window during temperatures under 32 degrees. (or maybe a bit higher).

I'm a cold weather person and prefer Winter over Summer any day. I love the snow and the overcast days. My only wish would be for the daylight to be the same length during the winter as it is in the summer. The reverse would actually be good. I spend all afternoon inside with the A/C on, wishing I could be outside enjoying the sun shine, but not the heat.

One of these days when I can afford it, I'll join the people who follow 70 degrees as the hottest it ever gets. Most I think follow it as the "Coldest"

I have used it in the winter. It flips up on top, just pop out the side channels.
It's not as easy or secure as the hardtop window, but it is functional and retains heat inside.

Glad to see some info on explore glazing. I thought it was a scam at first because pricing was a third what I found in US I’m waiting to hear back on my quote but shoo-ins be around 329.00 per side. Plus shipping.

Did you opt for sliding or gull wing?

Just the sliding window with no add ons, trying to figure out customs and import tax thru fedex now to see if this is a vis me option. Cost prior to import tax is 950.00 for both left and right sliding windows.

Just curious if you ended up with the sliding window? If you did, do you like it and how was the install?

I'd love to have seen Jeep do something similar to the rear side windows on minivans, with the little hinge to just vent them slightly. Modern ones are powered, which could be accomplished with the plugs in the back of the hard top.

Just a little rotator motor and a pair of hinges would be nice.

I watched auto glass installer do my first one. Seemed no different from a glass window installation. A different installer did my second one since the first wanted me to drop my Wrangler off for the second one. (No thanks, too much PITA.) I added the guards myself. Drilling and tapping would have been much easier if done before installing--laying flat on a surface working from above. I think it helped a great deal that I made a dimple with a center punch before drilling--to prevent the drill bit from walking.

I love the airflow while driving and leaving windows open in parking lots knowing hands can't reach in. Obviously the guards are optional.
