Yeah I’m a serious introvert lol I don’t do gyms can’t stand to be around that many people at once, I’ll talk to the person I know they’re gonna get back to me tomorrow see about the “subscription” deal. Having worked like a dog since I was 12-13 I can’t stand to piss money away so yeah $100 a month would just give me a stroke Lol I’d just suck up the pain
SMH!

Lol that’s not wasting money tho!!! Major health benefits behind massages…you should look them up! Major benefits to the entire body’s system. Lookie! https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/stress-management/in-depth/massage/art-20045743

5 qt. jugs of synthetic automotive oils -- Castrol Edge, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum -- are and have been averaging $38 at the chains where I purchase my DIY supplies (Advance Auto, etc.) Royal Purple is a bit higher, $43ish.

And don't get me started on the price of motorcycle oil... Here's just one example.
Loll snap! I changed my motorcycle oil last year right before my accident. I’ve ridden it about 30 times since not being able to ride for 3months…so my oil should be good. Sadly, I never pay attention to what my motorcycle oil costs…I just buy it from the Kawasaki dealer bc I want the oem/stock kawasaki oil. Sadly, There are some things I won’t examine too hard lol. ?

I've done yoga. Anyone who says it's easy, hasn't done it. ;)

My instructor blended yoga and pilates, actually, providing hard and easy options for each position. I'd sweat and grumble during the 45 minute sessions, but at the end, I felt set up for the entire day. A new man. No joke.

I'd recommend that anyone at least consider trying it once. Put the work in, and you'll feel like a new person. ?

Also, you can be an introvert in a gym! Lots of people are. You go there get ur workout in and bounce! Plenty of times the crowds aren’t too bad, during specific times. That’s what I do…i have tunnel vision. I plan my routine, pick my spot, handle my business, rack my weights and get outta there lol. TYPICALLY everyone is so focused on what they’re doing they don’t notice others. Dont let the introvertness stop you from joining a gym IF it’s something that you believe will benefit you and your lifestyle. ?

THIS!! You told ALL truth right here. I started yoga in my late 30’s. I wish i would’ve started it earlier.

One good session a week gets my body back on track. I can even tell when I need it. My lower back will start to get achey in the mornings then I know I need a yoga session. Afterwards…I feel 10yrs younger.

it killed me to have a shop install my lift - and sure enough wasn't completed correctly and had to take to another shop to correct the issue - lesson is find a very reputable shop that does the work you want and recommended by others - do not use the dealer network - warranty -oil changes it's fine otherwise run-run away fast....

I've been reluctant to do any kind of work to my vehicles except the bus I own. Even that, the heavy work gets farmed out. I am lucky that I have an awesome relationship with my Chrysler dealer who goes out of their way to take care of me. That said, I built a 16' long service pit in my side yard for the bus and basic work on my vehicles when I "feel like" working on them. It's ok. Life progression I guess.

That is (to me) a work of art. Well done !!

I've been maintaining my vehicles, to include repairs and accessory installation, for 30+ years now.

Continuing this M.O. with my Wrangler, albeit on a modest scale thus far, has compelled to think about how much longer I can reliably slide around on a concrete floor, or an asphalt driveway. For the first time, I've had to acknowledge a ticking clock.

Buying time, in the form of a two-post garage lift, just isn't in the cards. And so having something like the benchmark upgrade of a 2" lift added to my Jeep would probably force me to give the vehicle and the key fob to a shop for the first time, ever. Oddly, it's not the expense of doing so that is personally annoying, so much as it is the abandonment of proud self-sufficiency.

Have you found yourself staring at the same decision, or reality? Have you made peace with it?
Since I'll be 61 at the end of next month, I too find myself loathe to get on a creeper, or crawl down into the pit, or grab onto a torque wrench, or let hot oil run down my arm, or wait for melting snow to drip down my neck, etc., etc., etc.
I am lucky enough to have my own shop, complete with licensed (albeit 310T's) mechanics, jacks, pits, and so on. No lifts though. So I got people to do the grunt work for me.
However ... I do perch myself upon a rolling mechanic's stool, and supervise to the nth degree.
Have I made peace with it ... GAWD NO !!!! ... LOL

I know that the day of which you speak @Heimkehr is coming. However, as long as I am physically able to perform my own service, repairs and upgrades I will continue to do just that.

It will be a depressing day indeed when I have to turn over the keys to some untrained lube tech or book learned dealer tech who has little, if any, experience.

I'm convinced that any money I saved by DIY in my younger years is just being paid back (with interest) to doctors to replace my own worn-out parts. Still have trouble handing the keys over though.

This thread galvanized me into putting the Winter Tires on my JL 2 Dr Sport ; adjusting the Parking Brake ( hardest part of that, cleaning out the dog hair and stuff in the cargo area) changing the air filter, and giving it a good pre- Winter cleaning. Now, where's that Walker ?

I’ve just recently told my wife that our next house will have a 3 car garage and a lift. Crawling around on my he ground is not much fun these days with my knees. I still do basics stuff like oil changes, tire rotations and lift kits. There have always been things that I just won’t do, gears, transmission work and carburetors, thankfully I don’t have to worry about that last one anymore. As the saying goes, A man has to know his limitations. Words to live by

I've been wrenching on engines & vehicles of all kinds since I was 8 years old, and after 50 years of it, I was forced to self-eval along those lines as well. Until I actually took the Jeep into the dealership recently. Holy Crap, these kids are morons! I couldn't do it-- I drove the Jeep back home and ordered the Service Manual that day...

As a result of that experience, I seriously embarked on a physical conditioning self-improvement program. And it worked. I now have the strength & flexibility I had almost 20 years ago... well, probably not. But I'm much improved, and that's what it feels like. As an added benefit, my A1C is back to normal, and Doc has quit riding my ass.

In other words, the dealership can work on my Jeep when they pry the torque wrench from my cold, dead, arthritis-gnarled hands!

I do a ton of exercises/stretching , would like to do massages but it just gets to expensive the one person I trust to do it (tried several in the past) charges $100 an hour. I’ll look into that vinyasa yoga never heard of it but thanks
I discovered Voltaran recently. A few years ago, I started having an "ankle" problem. After fighting it for a couple years, I went to a couple doctors. First one was worthless. Second one diagnosed it as a fallen arch with complications of the tendons. Doctor prescribed the then prescription gel anti-inflammatory equivalent of Voltaran. Not long afterward, I found that it was granted FDA approval for OTC sales. Give it a try, if you haven't already. It's majic stuff.

I was born with a wrench in my hand
I grew up in my dad's gas station and have been Turing a wrench ever scene
My last off road vehicle was a Yamaha 490 and that was 25 years ago I am now 65 years old
In 2020 I bought my first Jeep. A 4 door 2020 Willys and of course I can't leave it as is
Front and rear Dana 44 lockers 4 to 1 transfer case, bumpers, 35in.tires,wheels, brakes, 2.5 lift and a lot more
Put when it came time to do the gears I hesitated although I have rebuilt 100s of diffs in my time as a mechanic
I made an appointment at the 4x4 shop in Livermore and they where 2 mouths out
After waiting a few weeks I woke up one morning and said I CAN DO THIS although its been a long long time scene I did one
Pieces of cake. It all came back. It just takes longer and more patience
I now also have a 2018 Rubicon JL I pick up for my wife. This one I will leave as is except for bumpers and brake upgrades
I hope I will be doing all the work on my jeeps until the day I die
Also check out my post on Mushy brake syndrome
The dealer told me there was nothing wrong BUT I FIXED IT
