That will depend on what's under the hood. If you've the 2.0T, removing the grille is compulsory. The coolant tank for the intercooler, on the driver's side, prevents practical access to the rear of the corresponding headlight assembly.I'm considering doing a bulb swap. Just curious with those who have already done so, did you pull the grill to get access or go in from the back to access the bulbs? I've seen videos with both methods.
As for the passenger side (and if the engine is the V6), I've seen recommendations to remove the airbox to create working space, but that's way too precious for me. Removing the grille is neither complicated nor time consuming. Doing so then allows easy removal of the headlight assemblies themselves, so that the installer can in turn seat the LED wiring -- including the bulky drivers -- inside the assemblies safely and easily on the bench.
