Hey all, newbie to this forum!
We just swapped out our factory halogen headlights (and taillights & fog lights) to our 2020 Wrangler Sport JL, from a 2020 Sahara. Everything seemed to work fine, in the garage. Our only issue is the high beams are waaaayyy too high, in the trees lol.
We did an alignment, 25’ back & 3’ up on the garage door. Low beams were slightly high, high beams were above the 3’ mark.
The service tech at our dealership told us that it won’t work! He said we could get a wire harness? A fellow jeeper told us to use OBD Jscan along with a security bypass module and a Bluetooth dongle to reprogram it.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

To re-program what exactly? Jscan is not going to correct the way the light shines. That will only correct if you have dash error messages going from halogen to LED you may get a bulb out message.

That’s kinda what we thought. We’re not getting any error messages. We’re at a loss!

High beams should not be aimed 3ft up at 25ft away from starting point. They are mostly level or just below level to throw the beam far - not high. Programming from Halogen to LED only takes care of bulb out errors and possibly flickering.

Just the bulb, or the whole kit? The ones we put in were factory installed ones on the Sahara.
We also read that we have to switch to LED lights in settings, which brings up another issue. We also swapped out our 5” radio with their 7”, along with the climate control panel. We did some programming with that but we don’t have the cabin temp sensor (yet). We have heat, but can’t control the temp, and can’t switch to A/C. If there is supposed to be an LED option we’re not seeing it.

Sorry I missed the part where you swapped them from a Sahara.. my apologies. The LED setting they are talking about are within the JSCAN or Tazer platform. The dealer should also be able to change that setting as well but I have heard it can be pricey.

All you need to do is aim the low beams. The high beams do not aim separately, and should not have the same cut off height as the low beams. The high beams should be considerably higher than the low beams, hence the term high beams. This is by design to throw light farther down the road.

We get that, but that’s how they are shining/operating. We just don’t understand why. You wouldn’t think that it’s a programming issue, again no error messages either. But if it’s a bulb issue then why would both lights be doing that?

It’s not a programming issues at all. That is only if you are getting error messages on the dash. There is no programming that will adjust the height of the light. As someone else said, you adjust the low beam to be correct. High beams can’t be adjusted separately.

My JK had set screws on the headlight mounts to change the direction of the beam pattern. I would imagine the JL/JT are similar. Look up on youtube how to adjust beam pattern on jeep jl and you'll likely find what you need.

We’re pretty sure they were stock/factory lights that came off of a 2020 Sahara
