rear ended someone last april in my 2 door, it was barely noticable but the frame was bent back on the driver side about 1/2 inch. the body shop had to replace the frame completely. definitely would have it looked at.

The good news is that you don't have to complain about high gas prices. For a while.:CWL:

I sorta do, they gave us a Civic for a rental, and now Im driving my wifes Sequoia - so that 10-12 mpg is far worse than the Jeeps 16-18.

Dealer said frame replacement is likely, book time is 43 hrs so it’s well within the $35-37k number so looks like it’s fixable. Will know more tomorrow or Friday.

Had a 16 yr old girl run a stop sign yesterday and l T-boned her. Fairly slow at 25-30 mph but still a decent accident. Her fault and she had insurance and everyone is ok - I was perfectly fine after - she had a panic attack but other than that was fine.

Since I’m impatient waiting on insurance to get moving - do we think this is totalled? Front frame horns bent from very front to grill only. All else is fine. 2021 JLUR XR with 9500 miles so I sure hope not!

It’s going to Jeep dealer in the next day or two, but figured I’d ask here so maybe I have an idea of what to expect.

Thanks!

Wes

I’m a previous body shop owner, from what I can see I don’t think the insurance company will total it. If the estimated cost of repairs approaches 75% of the vehicles‘ value they generally total it here in Florida. Walk around your Jeep and carefully inspect all of the body seams for a uniform gap, particularly the doors, hood, fenders etc. open and close the doors, do they operate as smoothly as before? If the gaps aren’t even then it is likely that there is frame damage further into the vehicle. Make sure the shop you bring it to has state of the art frame measuring( lazer ) and straightening equipment and SAE certified technicians. If only the frame horns are bent, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

The frames are rather cheap. Only a couple grand if I remember right from a few other post of people buying totaled keeps and frame swapping them. Hopefully they can get a frame sent out quick and get you back in your rig trouble free!

So it’s official - I now hate Farmers. Despite the quote coming in well under the $35-37k they told me to total it out - they said their policy is not to replace frame therefore they are going to total it out ?????

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Crap! Hopefully you'll get a replacement soon, or at least be back in the market for one soon. Good luck!

Well, trying to be optimistic here-maybe take the payout, buy a hi-MPG cheapy beater for commuting, get the repairs done yourself, once it becomes usable then sell the beater, & use any remaining funds to build it out as you wish. The only downsides I see is if you sell it in the future, the value for a salvaged vehicle will be much less; or if they only offer pennies for the buyout. Or sell it to someone who wants to go the above route themselves. It seems so lightly damaged, you might still get a decent price. Hoping that whichever choice you make, it worksout for you.

With a baby on the way for me that’s not an option as I just have too much going on. Going to start fighting for a rental car for 8 weeks to order another.

Well you have repair and then I would want a big check for depreciation of my Jeep on top! So maybe work out for you.

I know you like this jeep and wanted to keep it. But for such an expensive rig, it really is better you cut ties with it. The diminished value would be massive on a special expensive vehicle like that.
