So...what's the status with GDE? I'm wanting to buy but need to know if they are still a legit outfit to deal with. Are they in hot water with the EPA? Is what they currently sell..."watered down" and not worth the $$?? They use to have a great reputation but I tried to call several times and just got an answering machine.

ANY information will help...THNX!!

I was at there shop at the first part of September for there tune. They are legit. They did get in hot water with the epa for selling deleted tunes back a few years ago. Both guys I met were former engineers for stellantis and worked on putting the ecodiesel in vehicles. When I had questions I emailed them and got a prompt response. Since they are in Michigan this is the beginning of bow hunting season so they may be busy with that. When I talked to the one guy he was talking about sponsoring a doe hunt in one of the counties.

As for as the tune goes. It is a decent tune def feel more power and torque I do get better mpg now and don’t go into regens as much as I used to more tune.

I have mine for almost 4 years. There is a new update and I have been in touch with them about getting that update taken care of. All emails get answered promptly. They were required by the EPA to post a disclaimer about emissions and tunes but it is not there now. The new update will disable the ESS system completely. I also plan to add the regen notification to the engine braking that I already have. Getting 22-23 on 37's. Just gotta be careful with the go pedal or you'll be replacing the left rear tire before the other 4. Also by my fuzzy math it paid for itself in about 40000 miles in fuel savings.

Thanks for the updates! I'm going to try and call next week. I'm really interested in the 190°f thermostat. I'm a bad person and pull a camp trailer and sometimes the engine temps start to climb...even with the tazer fan overide, Mitsumoto oversize radiator and the hood vents cut out..

I bought their tune earlier this year and have been impressed with how it behaves. It is emissions compliant, so it is not a full delete tune like the older versions, but the truck now regens less often and the soot level rises at a much slower rate. The engine feels cleaner and more efficient than it did before. Power delivery is strong and the added torque is noticeable on every drive. The amount of calibration work behind the tune feels close to what an OEM team would produce, which makes sense given their background with Chrysler. I recently installed the updated file and I am still getting a sense of how it will settle in, though I already appreciate the permanently disabled ESS feature since I no longer have to press the button each time. I have followed their posts across different forums for a while and they have hinted that delete tunes might return, depending on how federal policy shifts under the new EPA direction.

This new update. Besides the ESS disable, is there anything else changed in the mapping? Been running their setup since Dec. '23. Love it.

I’ve been eyeing getting a tune from them for about a year now, still haven’t pulled the trigger but I’ve read Abe researched the tune across multiple platforms, I’ve called and talked with them several times and I’ve no doubt it’s going to be well worth it when I decide to get one. On a side note does anyone know how to tell if your PCM is up to date with the latest software? I’m also hoping they run a Black Friday sale this year, might finally be time to get a tune off they do 🥴

Did you get the Y91 Def update? Pretty sure that was the last software update before the EcoDiesel software team was disbanded. They never put an update on the '22's but my wife's '21 got that update.

I bought my 21’ in August last year from the Dealership. Haven’t been to a Dealer since the purchase so I’m really not sure. Thanks

I emailed GDE and this is what they replied…

There are new tunes we released for the engine and also the transmission a few weeks ago. We feel they are worthwhile improvements. A tune update is $50 on the website.

I hope that helps.

Keep Jeep’n

Just an update for everyone. I ran the EPA-compliant tune for about six months, then moved to the latest EPA-compliant version with the ESS permanently disabled. Earlier this week, I updated again to the Afterlife Tune that Green Diesel Engineering began offering about a week ago, which effectively disables the EGR system.

The truck already drove smoothly on the EPA-compliant tune, but with the EGR off it runs even better and feels more responsive overall. This tune offering also includes “broken DEF” and “broken exhaust (DPF)” options which, as the names suggest, disable those systems if selected.

Just be aware that the Afterlife Tune requires an odometer disclosure showing 150,000 miles or more before GDE can legally sell it to you.

GDE has always made excellent calibrations, and with the Afterlife Tune they are clearly back in form. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone deciding which tuner to go with.
