GPS issues

Having the same problem with my JL. I don't know exactly when it started but just noticed two days ago while on a drive. GPS won't lock and the compass is off. Will be scheduling an appointment with the dealership.

Really sad part is we had the exact same problem with my wife's 2018 Grand Cherokee. It took three months for the dealership to replace that radio. Hopefully this time it will be a better experience (but not holding my breath).

mine just started this as well. out of nowhere I lost all GPS Sat connections. my navigation stopped working. it started after picking up from dealership after having the Mopar lift installed. I'm sure it's not related, but happened after picking it up. will have to call dealership on Monday and see what they have to say.

Does your Service Department receipt, mention anything about any PCM updates, UConnect update, updates, etc., being preformed while in for lift install they did?

Sometimes/quite often,... Service Dept.. tech's will use/connect WiTech computer to see if any updates, are recommended for your Vin#/vehicle by FCA, and if so, the tech will do the updates, . An update, could account for you seeing different behavior by the JL.

IF, your receipt mentions no PCM updates, updates, still ask the Service Manager (not Service Writer) to take a good look over of what was done... was an update done and just not recorded on the receipt..

It was actually just swapping out an #AC lift for the #AD lift and alignment. Nothing else was done. About 3 or 4 weeks ago when they did the #AC lift they did the MVP tire size change but it was fine until yesterday.

how long did it take to get the new head unit in when they ordered it? also, do you subscribe to XM radio and WiFi? if so, how hard was it to swap the service? (I had both on my 2019, after swapping to the 2020 it was a nightmare to swap my subscription to the new Jeep. I assume it's same for a new radio)

I dropped mine off yesterday for this and the Steering box service buliten, trying to judge how long they may have it.

Took about 6 weeks for the head unit to arrive. Jeep Cares helped. I drove my Jeep until the unit was at the dealer.

SiriusXM was swapped over for me.(thankfully, because I know of that nightmare). I do not use wifi.

UGG.. I am having the same problem. GPS thinks I am 40 miles away from where I am at.

My radio got replaced too because the navigation can't be fixed. Dealer replaced the gps antenna and still no gps. Jeep Tech support and customer care got involved and they told the dealer to replace the radio. Working good so far.

I had my Jeep into service on August 5th to check out the GPS problem. This was a waste of time since I knew the radio needed replaced. Was surprised to get a call the following week that a new radio had arrived. Took the Jeep back in on August 20th for the radio swap but that radio was faulty too. Now we're a month and half later and still waiting. Tick tock, tick tock.

I am in the same boat. 2018 JL Rubicon Unlimited at 34,000 miles . Went to the dealership for check engine light. It was fixed for $495.00 and now no gps signal on the navigation.. It is stuck 20 miles away. I Have talked with the dealer once. He said give it some time to rebuild files. It’s been a week and nothing has changed. What a mess. The last thing I want to do is go to the dealership again and have them mess with the radio for months. What’s up Chrysler??

GPS says I’m 10 miles away and Nav doesn’t know where I am. Called dealer on a Saturday and they didn’t have a tech in today to diagnose, but said to disconnect battery for 20 minutes for a hard reset or to bring it in Monday. How did everyone else fair?

Did you disconnect both batteries? There is still a charge with only the large one disconnected.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me about that second battery. I’m just going to let the dealer handle it.
