Recently (the past few months) I've been having an intermittent problem with Android auto on my 2024 JLUR XR (non-tech package) and my Pixel 9 XL Pro phone. I'm not certain if the issue is the Jeep or the phone. Intermittently Android Auto (whether wired or wireless) will just say "Searching for GPS" and not update the map, or if it does update it's way off. I've tried soft-resetting the U-connect without and fix.

When my wife connects her iPhone it (frustratingly) works perfect. So I am leaning towards an issue with the Pixel. Everything is up to date with software patches. I have noticed that the "Offroad Pages" on the Jeep show the GPS coordinates and they seem to be updating correctly, which again leans towards the phone being the culprit.

Has anyone else experienced this with their 2024+ JL and Android phone?

Thanks in advance!

When Android Auto is on the screen it's running it on the phone and showing it on the Jeep's screen. So, if the map app is searching for GPS it's a phone issue like you suspect as it's not using the Jeep's GPS satellite like the OffRoad Page is.

Assuming your phone is working properly, it may be areas you're driving through that are causing the GPS to lose signal or even your phone doesn't have a good clear 'view' of the sky. Maybe try turning off precise location in your settings and it may 'guesstimate' more and not just fail.

Even with my Pixel 10 Pro, I will occasionally lose GPS for a bit and it will take some time for the location to get exact.

Thanks for the reply! It's really random, I can drive to a store with absolutely zero GPS - it just says "Searching for GPS" and the icon stays at my house. I go inside for 5 minutes without touching my phone, get back in the Jeep and it works absolutely fine.

I don't think it's a "view of sky" issue as it did it in Moab in the middle of the desert with nothing around. I think you're right that it's a problem with the phone and not the Jeep. I like the Pixel but get a little tired of being Google's unpaid beta tester with all of the bugs in it.

Like Ratzero occasionally my pixel 10 pro drops gps and once in a while I have to go in and prompt to reconnect. My JL is a 2022 so I use a dongle to acquire Bluetooth connection.

Disconnect your telematics box for a couple of days so the internal battery runs out and see if the problem continues. My GPS on my IPhone was wacky for a couple days until the battery died and no more problems. When your wife’s phone settles down, then you will know the battery is dead.

(Disconnect all of the antennas when you remove power)
