That's true, we do only have one side. Will say though that, given that OP's intent wasn't even to stir up anything about cops or laws around mirrors, that it's highly probable OP's account is accurate or at least close to accurate. OP only stated that they received a lecture about mirrors, top tint, and tail light tint. Given that OP hasn't been harping about it, it would seem OP isn't overly bent out of shape and therefore would seemingly be unlikely to lie.
