What are some options out there in 35s? Car is mainly on paved road but will be wheeled couple of times here and there ever year. Any good deals for a whole set or should i wait till black friday/holiday time?

Tires are a product of compromise, meaning there is trade off. to that end, the right tire model for you will depend on how the rig is used and the performance attributes you prioritize.

There are typically great deals come Black Friday if you're able to hold off the purchase, though there are great deals running right now, we may be a bit bias though ;)

The best MT tire, for almost all conditions (except on a car that is mainly on paved road but will be wheeled couple of times here and there ever year), is the Interco Super Swamper TSL SX-II in 35 x 10 x 17.

For a slightly more serious reply...

Toyo Open Country M/T and BF Goodrich KM3s are all the rage out in my neck of the woods (sort of.... not really woods here in AZ). I had the Toyos for a few months and hated them, went to an A/T afterward, but I plan on trying out the KM3s once my current K02s wear out. We have the 35" Goodyear Territories on the Bronco... they suck out here in the West, but I could see them driving really well out East.

Oh lord, for a serious reply…your Wrangler would do really well with either Nitto Trailgrapler or Cooper STT Pros for maintaining on-road characteristics with off-road capability. Note these tire are heavy so fuel mileage will be sacrificed. That’s the trade off with mud terrains vs street tires (ATs). Honestly, a good AT will get up most trails while still keeping that street performance.

Agreed. Another vote for Cooper STT’s

OP, I have tested 4 different tires this year and the Cooper STT Pro’s are the best tires hands down. It’s my current set up now. They are also on the lighter side as far as weight so you wont take too much of a hit on gas compared to other MT’s.

Have a good buddy that’s been through several higher end MT tires on Jeeps over the years and he swears by the Trail Grapplers for overall driving. If you do go with ATs I’ve been running the Wildpeak AT3w for almost 12k and I’m really happy with their performance in the rain. They have a pretty deep tread for an AT. I ran them up a few mountain passes in Ouray and kept up with my buddy running KM3s

i've found the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T with its varied tread has worked great for me on and off-trail for about 15K miles so far, and i don't find it terribly noisy on the highway. they are, however, not quite as light as some others, and do not run as small as some others. (BFGs on the other hand are known for both.)

but i'd also consider their new Baja Legend MTZ were i looking for another set right now and wanting something with a little less void.

I was very happy with my KM2s and Im very happy with my KM3s but they run small. If you are thinking of 35s, just go with 37s.

In increasing order of mud-worthiness and decreasing order of Rain/Snow-worthiness
  • Nitto Ridge Grappler
  • Goodyear Duratrac
  • Toyo Open Country RT, Cooper STTs
  • BFG KM3 (league of its own)
  • Any MT tire from the top manufacturers (Falken MT, Nitto Trail Grappler, General X3)
  • Swampers :)

I've had two sets of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's and loved them. I had mud tires before those and they were great the handful of times a year I went off-roading but they were annoying to listen to. Mickey Thompson doesn't make the ATZ anymore but I think it's called the Baja boss and that will be my next purchase. They have a nice hybrid tread that won't drive you crazy with noise. But, if you're hell-bent on mud terrain tires go with the Interco Super swampers!

That new Mickey Baja AT would check the boxes that OP stated, mainly on road but an aggressive look. Cooper STT Pro, Mickey Baja MT, or Yokohama Geolander MT would be my picks for a MT based tread. Glad to hear you liked those ATZP3s, I have a new set in my shed waiting to mount up!
