Realized I never fully updated, thanks for all the input! I bought MT BB ATs 255/85r17 installed on my stock Willys 17x8" wheels and we'll see, so far lots of road in rain and dry and little mild wet wheeling and they are very nice! I'll probably end up on 37x12.50x17s with Method 703s (17x8.5") eventually.
I should have listened to those who said to just get 37s from the jump! Cause I’m currently on the same tires! Should have just went with the 37x12.5s!

if you like Pizza cutters (some do some don't)hard to beat the Mickey 255/85-17 on stock wheels..add some 1" BORA spacers which are high quality and the thinnest spacer you can use without trimming the stock lugs.

Now that I have these tires mounted on stock Willys wheels they have been great onroad and the mild wheeling that I've done so far. Getting ready to hit Rubicon with unbolted front swaybar, looks like the might rub inner fender liners without the wheel spacers? Did you buy more stock lugnuts to install these or use some open ended lugnuts from local auto parts store?

Edit: should have said that I'm looking at the BORA 1" :)

The spacers from most reputable companies include the proper lug nuts

Last weekend ran part of the Rubicon Trail from Wentworth Springs to Ellis Creek and then back out via Gate Keeper. Freedom panels off, front swaybar unbolted and zip-tied up, Willys did amazingly well, did bypass one section about 200 yards long of nasty boulder strewn, large rock stair steps because we were just one Jeep and didn't want to spend the night there lol. Only locked rear axle once at Gate Keeper as two rock buggies were right behind us and we didn't want to hold them up, probably didn't need to though. :)

My old trusty tire gauge is apparently dead as we wanted 12-15psi and somehow ended up at 8-10 according to the TPMS! Time for new good quality low pressure tire gauge. Tires burped a few times here and there and I think may have spun some on the stock wheels, got slight out of balance vibration at speed now. These MT BB ATs did amazingly well, no grip or ride quality problems.

Rather than doing spacers, I'd like to get some steel wheels liking the D-holes, IIRC stock WIllys wheels are 17x7.5"? American Racing used to make, probably still do in 15", had a set of Unique brand white spokes once that wobbled and hopped badly even when brand new, switched them out to American Racing and smooth as glass even with large tires.

I like these, would prefer grey or silver maybe but they all seem to be black no matter what brand...none of these are hub-centric as the factory Jeep wheels are.

How would these 255/85r17s be on 17x7.5, 17x8s? Better to find some 17x7.5, use wheel spacers or?

wheels off from the Gladiator Mojave edition are 17x7.5 with like slightly better offset than your stock wheels. they are like +37mm offset. I personally would avoid steel wheels but that is just me.. I like oem wheels for pizza cutters and BORA 1" spacers work well with them. I know some hate spacers but I have been using them for many years and never an issue but i am the only one who works on my stuff so I know they are installed properly. but if a person likes how steel wheels look then they should get what they like.

@jadmt Interesting and good info on those wheels, thanks. Did you need to trim your lug studs for the 1" spacers? No locktight, just proper nut torque and recheck in 500 miles?

no need to trim the lugs with OEM wheels as they have pockets that give enough clearance. I actually clayed them to make sure and there is no issues. BORA says no locktite just proper torq ie 130 ft/lbs. I have used wheel spacers since 2012 or so and I put them on properly and I do not retorq between rotations. never once have I had a spacer lug nut loosen. if a person feels better they should re-check at 500 miles and if they want could use locktite but I don't feel the need.
