Garage door button on sunvisor ?

Test drove a Rubicon today that had the garage door buttons on the visor. Is that standard or what package does that come with? Thought it was only available as part of the convenience package on a sport.

The Sahara I drove yesterday didn’t have it and had the safety package.

I ordered the Rubicon without safety or proximity packages.

Are you sure the Sahara didn't have it? It is listed as standard on Sahara and Rubicon.

Yeah, I just programmed it for my garage door, not too difficult.

I just recommend only programming the garage door buttons if you park in the garage. Far too often they are used to break into homes when parking outside.

Where did you find that info? I like the idea, but the manual (found online) on page 157 says "NOTE?: HomeLink is disabled when the Vehicle Security Alarm is active".

Thinking about a scenario where the roof is down and the Jeep is locked/alarmed via the fob. It would be possible to lean over an unlock the doors (and the alarm?) then use the HomeLink buttons to open the garage..?

No, if you lock with the key fob(sets alarm also) that is the only way to disarm the alarm. If you reach in and unlock the doors with the switch on the door panel, the alarm will sound.

The BCM feeds the Homelink power only when ignition is on.
If you wire it like I have it the Homelink will always be active and able to raise the garage door, even if the ignition is off and the alarm is set.

This is correct. I turned off my Jeep and tried to open the garage and thought something was wrong, because it did not open. Then I remembered reading about it.

Makes sense.I know on older cars parked outside the garage door buttons were an issue for home break ins. Apparently I still have it stuck in my head to not program them since I have no room in garage to park but not a bad idea to test to set alarm while in your vehicle and press buttons just to confirm they are disabled. I never take things for granted...lol.
