So the last time time the dealer replaced the front axle seals they fubared my front fill plug. I’m going to have to drill or chisel it out! I am trying to find the thread size so I can get a replacement. Lots of websites have conflicting information as to what the proper plug is. Anyone know what size/thread type is or have an extra they want to let go of?

I will have a spare front and rear diff cover available once I change out mine to AEV. But thats not going to happen for next several weeks unfortunately due to work travel. I dont know if it will fit your '20 JLU, mine is '21 and does have a drain plug. But if you can/ will wait once I have a chance to change mine, I will have no use for the OEM covers

So, if the dealer messed it up, why not require the dealer to fix it? Just curious.

This.

Also, which diff do you have. Some of us may have a spare they'd be willing to sell you cheap or even give you.

Well it’s been about 6 months since I had it at the dealer and now out of warranty. It would also be a finger pointing on who did what. Plus it’s a few weeks to even get it into the dealer. This mess up is the reason I do my own work, but since they covered the seal replacement it was easier to have them do it.

The threads in the cover will be fubar'd too. The right thing to do is to replace the cover and the plug. Simple job as I'm sure you know. The gasket is 100% reuseable as it is steel with a rubber molded seal. Do yourself a favor and just put a Motobilt or similar on it and be done.

I like this recommendation. Saves you the trouble of screwing with it. Just make sure whichever cover you get is compatible with your track bar.

I checked real quick, looks like the stock plug is only like $10:
https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-differential-cover-plug-68401316ab

The full cover kit is $80ish. An aftermarket one will probably run $100-150.

You could try an easy out, but they probably impact gunned it on to mess it up in the first place, so that may end up being more than $80 worth of PITA.

$15 in gear oil if you swap the cover, or drill through the plug.
