I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not. We are starting to look at Class C motorhomes and what would be needed to flat tow one of our Jeeps behind.
I have a Motobilt Hammer front bumper on my JLUR. I am looking for solutions to tie the front bumper mount back into the frame in such a way that the bumper D-ring mounts would be my tow bar mounting points. D-ring mounts are 3/4" steel welded front and back in the bumper. I understand the need for a true frame attachment point rather than just the frame horns for the flat tow.
The Roadmaster Baseplate Kit 521453-5 comes with two brackets that look like they attach directly to the frame of the Jeep and provide support for the 4 hole front bumper attachment. See installation guide here.
These brackets allow for two bolts thru the actual frame, and then two through the frame horn and back up the stock front bumper attachment point.
Has anyone seen brackets like this that do NOT have the direct connect attachments below the bumper attachment plate? Brackets that just tie the bumper attachment points back into the frame? I am trying to not have to cut into the bumper/skid plate to allow for the lower Roadmaster bracket connection points. May just end up cutting holes in the skid to allow for the connections.
