The TSBs for this are for the 2018-2023 JL and 2020-2023 JT and stop with the 2024s. There are several other threads regarding this topic and in a couple of them people with 2024s have taken their hinges off and the shims were there. The hinge parts were redesigned for the 2024 model year and the hinge part numbers include the zinc shim affixed to the hinge directly from the factory.

Also to answer purpurite afaik the shims are not available separately; they are affixed to the redesigned hinges directly.

Here is a thread where the new hinge parts are discussed

Thanks, man.

To be clear: this issue is not isolated to areas where the steel in the hinge bolts (not the hinges themselves) interacts with the aluminum doors and hood.

It also happens along edges that lack obvious interaction with steel. Bad prep, resulting in miniscule debris / metal getting on the surface is usually the suspected culprit.

Here's an exceptional analysis of the issue: https://www.theautopian.com/owners-are-furious-about-the-jeep-jl-wranglers-corrosion-issues/

Indeed.
Just had this pop up on several spots. I specifically checked all the hinges a few months back for it and it was fine. Suddenly it's there on two doors and the tailgate as well at the bottom edge of two doors.
The 5 year warranty expired and of course, Jeep will not cover it. That's par for the course though. In Europe, Jeep tries every trick they can employ to refuse warranty claims, TSB repairs or even recalls.

Anyone I know living in Europe who considers a Jeep, I tell them the same thing, don't do it.
I still go down to my old dealer every other month or so to "chat" with potential customers and warn them off. I have definitely cost them several times the warranty claims they rejected :)

After almost 40 years in aviation I can tell you that this issue is almost 100% a prep issue. Steps were missed or not in place to begin with. The shims are a BS sucklentus fix just to have it happen anyway farther down the road.

Aviation and automotive have been using dissimilar metals for around 100 years and corrosion/rust issues, have always been an issue.

I will add that there is a correct way is should be done, and it will usually last a pretty long time.

Then there the sucklentus way and what they let happen to a lot of our jeeps. Personally I have my own plan for fixing it when it appears on my Jeep. Current I only have a small spot on one hood hinge.

To be honest, it shouldn’t be an issue in the first place, but for some reason, someone in the engineering department thought it was a good idea to make the hinges steel and the doors aluminum to save weight and not Think what would happen when to dissimilar metals touch each other for long periods of time but once they repaint the hinges they put if I remember correctly, a zinc plate in between the hinge and the door that helps prevents the metals from reacting to each other
The hinges are also aluminum. The issue is prep. The doors are painted when they are already on the vehicle. As a result, there is no paint under the hinges and the hem flanges are not properly sealed

The same facility, and equipment is used to prep steel panels and aluminum resulting in ferrous particles being left on the aluminum panels.

Do you have proof that that is the case? Common sense says aluminum should have its own facility.

I contacted Jeep directly and got all four doors replaced on my 2019. It was out of warranty, you just need to be persistent. I also looked up and emailed Jeep upper management in the parts and service division.

Quick image search shows the aluminum hood on the tub when welding is being performed back on the sport bar.

I am sorry you are going through this. I hope you get resolution and also share with us if you are able to get Jeep to help and how. Now that I bought my "final-final" Jeep... this is on my list of biggest fears of BS to deal with in the future. Keep us posted and good luck!

My 2018 JLUR looks similar to the OP's, but not open to the base metal yet. Most of the door hinges, the hood hinges, and along the bottom of a door or two.

Anyone have part numbers for the new hinge shims?
