Except a .010" to .020" zinc shim could be installed between the door and the OE hinges without being seen and would definitely not be difficult to do. It wouldn't need to be repainted. I've replaced hinges on a JK before, and while everything is painted together, it's not enough paint to prevent the hinges from coming off and going back on very easily.

Jeep may have started to do it with new wranglers I just know on 2018 JLs they didn’t have the zinc plate unless it was fixed by a dealer and added

...Also once you get the doors fixed the fix for the hinges basically solves the problem...
Personally I'd suggest it doesn't "solve" the problem; it just kicks the can down the road quite a bit. The zinc shim will still eventually suffer from galvanic corrosion, after which it will still eventually begin corroding the aluminum again. IMO they should be properly prepping and painting the surfaces under the dissimilar metals beyond just putting a sacrificial shim in between them.

EDIT: @A_App if they don't cover it and you need to pay for the repair yourself; I'd concur with those who suggested to take it to a reputable body/paint shop for a quote to have them prep & paint under the hinges and the inside of the hinge

There are a couple of TSBs for this issue and it impacts 2018 - 2023 JLs; they started putting the shims in-place at the factory on the 2024s.

We initially had it there for the touch screen, the navigation needed an update… the dealership messed up the update and completely fried my screen and all those components. Right before Covid so they couldn’t get the part for over 4 months. It was infuriating, couldn’t access any features (including music) for that entire time. My husband said he asked about the bubbling in person during one of those visits, as we were there numerous times and the dealer told him no paint isn’t covered. He said he is extremely doubtful they noted it anywhere but maybe I could ask the dealer if they could print me a complete history.
I would have your husband go back to the service department, explain what happened in 2020 and ask them to submit it now. Mine was an ongoing project for several years and was past the 5 year warranty when they finally approved replacing the re corroding doors.

I can’t just live with it 😅 we’ve put a lot into this Jeep & love it… and I only have 32k miles on it. Now that I know my doors are just going to corrode and the paint is going to chip off and turn this into a giant eye sore, due to the manufactures choices it makes my gut hurt.

my husband told me he did try to get them if they could fix it back in 2020 and the dealer said no that they couldn’t, now that I’m hearing different and learning it’s a huge problem hits a different way. Hoping Jeep care will help me out on this but I’m nervous at what the cost will be if they dont.

This be at least 10-12K repair if you are out of pocket.

10-12k to repaint the hinges??? No freaking way. That’s the cost to paint the damn jeep in its entirety. I would say it’s probably like 2-3k to fix this
from my understanding they can’t just paint the hinges. They have to sand it down and if the metal is pitted the only way to correct it is to completely replace the doors and hood and repaint it. I thankfully don’t have issues with the tailgate because I put an aftermarket wheel carrier on it so no corrosion is back there. So the 10-12k is probably for all doors, good, and paint to match

For what it's worth, the corrosion is not limited to just JLs. A friend with a 2017 JK has a little hinge corrosion,.

They did? Other than pulling off my hinges to look, can you tell me how you came by that information, please? I could use some reassurance.

The TSBs for this are for the 2018-2023 JL and 2020-2023 JT and stop with the 2024s. There are several other threads regarding this topic and in a couple of them people with 2024s have taken their hinges off and the shims were there. The hinge parts were redesigned for the 2024 model year and the hinge part numbers include the zinc shim affixed to the hinge directly from the factory.

Also to answer purpurite afaik the shims are not available separately; they are affixed to the redesigned hinges directly.

Here is a thread where the new hinge parts are discussed

If the zinc shims will eventually cause corrosion, as well, as reported by some, ... I wonder why they didn't use a hard plastic shim?

Afaik the JK OEM doors were all steel so unless your friend has aftermarket aluminum doors their issue is likely rust rather than galvanic corrosion.
