Seems to me that if you filed for the repair under warranty under the terms stated at the time of filing then later decisions cannot legally be grandfathered into the agreement. Hopefully, you have a signed work order as proof you filed. I have not heard of such a development yet, but would suspect the dealer might be trying to cover costs. Ask for a copy if the Stellantis work order or something corroborates what the dealer is telling you.
After having my case file open for 3+ months the issue was resolved and I received a refund.

Yes, it is a widespread issue the company initially tried to ignore and shift the blame to poor maintenance and normal corrosion. Fact is it is galvanic corrosion caused by a reaction between two unlike metal surfaces. Stellaris extended the usual 3 year warranty to five to address the issue and dud issue an alert to dealers. Which was posted earlier on this forum. The only recourse you might have is to file an individual lawsuit - not a class action, since that will only benefit the lawyers. One other route: if you do have record or proof you brought it to the dealer’s attention in 2020, and were turned away, then you might have a chance of slipping under the five year warranty period.

In response to the person stating why didn’t you address the issue earlier: when I first noticed the bubbled paint on the hinge of my 2020 and brought it to a body shop I was told it was a minor paint defect. Obviously not the case when bubbling appeared on virtually every part of my Jeep. I am on a list for repairs, although was told it is a very long list and a fix may not be done for 6-12 months. Good luck!

This issue goes back to the JK, the fact Jeep still hasn’t taken measures to address/prevent it is mind boggling. Stellantis is a complete and utter Disaster!!! SUV’s priced the same as BMW’s, Wranglers over $70K, the Hornet was a complete flop. How the hell can you ruin a company this fast. One word- GREED. No one raised prices as much as them during Covid, they took full advantage of their buyers and it will now likely put them out of business. As if consumers are stupid.

If I were them I’d be doing everything I can to save every customer.

I think their cake is baked, whether it's a fire sale, or just a downsizing to a fraction of their past few years of models and sales volume.

Sounds like an opportunity to start a Go Fund Me campaign and buy out Jeep!

Agreed, in 2022 I bought my FULLY Loaded 392 XR for $76K. Yes I got a good deal and I waited many months to get it, but today that Jeep is $100K. I could’ve gotten a TRX for around the same price back then, today that is well over $100K. Grand Cherokee’s the price of BMW X5’s. Before Covid you could get a Hellcat for $60-70K or less after incentives, in 2023 that was the price of the Scat-pack.

Not to mention the Greedy dealers (thankfully we use the ones on this Forum) that out $20K plus ADM’s on everything.

I don’t feel bad for them at all. I do feel for the good dealers because they will suffer because of this.

Nobody is forced to purchase overpriced Jeeps…and apparently they aren’t. The math is simple: high price+low quality+stale products =declining sales. I’ve enjoyed my Jeep but I see no compelling reason to buy another at this point.
