Not one situation is exactly the same, for instance what you just mentioned with the ice. The only thing that you could do is be cognizant of the road/weather conditions & other drivers, sometimes things are just out of your control.
The point is that even the fency tech would not have help as it have no clue os the road conditions

I have had my vehicles save my bacon a couple of time in the last ten years. Both times it was someone pulling out in front of me from a stop sign. Both were on relatively flat ground. The road I was on was 75 mph. One was a 15 GMC Denali and last was Christmas this year in my Rubicon. I can turn it off, but I really have appreciated it. Both times would have resulted in totalled vehicles and probably some injuries or death. Yeah, big brother is intrusive, some things help.

Around here if you hit someone in the trunk you get a ticket, following some one to close. So we keep our distance and adapt our driving with the conditions. Because they don't care if there was a patch of ice, ask me how I know.
This girl never touched her brakes, so was most likely screwing with her phone. She (& her / her parent's insurance) took the full blame for it. Fortunately nobody was severely injured / died.

People need to be more attentive or in tune when driving. Then there won't be anymore accidents.

First off thanks for your replies! I’m new to the forum and I was kinda expecting negative feedback for this lol. So my other car is a 02 s2000 which is about as bare bones as can be. With that said, I got a Jeep with the intention of using it as original designed, a utilitarian off-road 4x4 & I’ve been using it as such I’ve taken it off-road more times than I can recall including when it still had temp tags!) with that said I absolutely love this thing except the aforementioned issues with the forced nonsense tech. I hope to keep this long term but with this stuff that’s destined to be an issue down the road, it will probably affect my long term ownership.

I have seen people purposely change lanes too close to a Tesla, forcing the system to activate in an effort to get the Tesla rear ended in traffic.

Not for nothing, watching ppl “drive”, it’s pathetic they literally are still texting with the phone in their hands constantly even though they are in a tesla ev type of vehicle it’s nuts. So while it’s not that every accident is just due to failing to concentrate on solely driving, it’s definitely one of the biggest factors.

Just as a point of interest... I drove a semi for FedEx for over 40 years. The last 12 years were horrendously boring because I drove the exact same 682 miles every single day... 5 days a week. It was boring until I looked over at another semi that had a computer sitting up on his dashboard and he was watching movies from Netflix. Found out that three or four movies a day made the trip go by very fast. End of boredom. However, I can honestly say that if it was not for the nanny controls that helped with breaking and line centering, there would've been some pretty bad accidents. I retired as I thought that I was getting too dangerous on the road. However, I would suggest that 80% of the cross-country drivers are out there, watching movies as they go down the road. All the nanny controls you save lives. There is a place in time for them. Even today, as I take my jeep down the road, I would admit to boredom and watching scenery. Even today, I'm glad I have the nanny controls.

Colorado is reinstating laws where it's illegal to touch your phone while driving. They've excluded professional drivers from that for some unspecified reason.

They dropped those laws several years ago due to people driving worse while attempting to hide the fact that they were interacting with their phones. I guess we never learn.

We have this for a while and peoples continue to use theirs phone when driving. I think the most blatant aspect of this is the number of peoples distracted at drive thru because of their phone.
