@BWWJL : Now that I think about it…I’ve been using the differential as my Jack point on my Yukon with much smaller tires for years without a problem. Now that I’ll be running much larger and heavier tire/wheel combo on my JLUR I’m now rethinking not using my diff for the jacking point.
?
I used the axle for 8 years on a F350 running 38x13.5x22's...pretty sure nothing on a JLU is causing an issue :)

The manual says---place the jack directly under the axle tube--INLINE WITH THE COIL SPRING, that's the most direct load carrying point, without putting stress on the DANA 44s tubing--
This is what I did on my 5-tire rotation.

This is how I do it. I mean, it’s in the manual…

This is a good thread, as I always wonder what the best method is. I like to avoid the pumpkin because I'm afraid that it may damage something. I don't want to lift on that shock mount that the OP pointed to. I'm thinking on the tube itself between the shock mount and the tire...but as others alluded to, how are you going to get the jack stand there.

Any thought about jacking it up by the frame and slip a jack stand under the tube between the shock mount and the wheel? I'd imagine you would have to jack it up much more, but maybe it safer?

I’d Rather Talk Jeep’s!
Just curious, why do weight/size of wheel/tire change your mind? Thanks.
I recently cracked one of my axle housings from normal street driving on my Yukon (is 13 years old with 150k) which was very odd. Couple that with comments such as @DHW stated above (and other similar comments throughout various forums I’m a part of) and it makes me second guess raising the vehicle from the pumpkin. However, you’ll probably still find me raising from the diff years from now. ? I definitely use rubber block or wood so as to not damage the diff housing.

I am not saying this is THE way to do it....but. I jack close to the spring and place a stand there. Then I do the other side...another stand. Then I use the jack to take some of the stress from the sides by slightly jacking under the pumpkin. I do have 4 stands and 2 jacks with rubber pads or hockey pucks. My goal is to distribute the weight and have redundancy in safety.

Thanks again for all the feedback and recommendations. Above is what I was attempting to do but there’s so little room for my HF 3 ton jack and trying to get a jack stand in after jacking it up at this point, I don’t see a way to do that.
Thanks again.

I have the same jack. It fits. I put an old foam disc from my polisher in between to avoid meta-on-metal contact.

Once you have a wheel off you can get a better visual of where the jack should be placed.

I did watch this prior to posting. The factory jack has a much smaller contact point vs a floor jack.
I’ll just need to dial in the right spot for my floor jack.

I will say I have and use the Safe Jack and its accessories, and the cradle accessory is almost too big to fit close to the spring. It works if you twist the cradle a bit, but it’s tight.

I use the Factory scissor jack and Jeep base stand made for the scissor jack. Jack stand marks to the right.

Jeepless but still a fan.
The offset on the axles isn't a big deal - been doing this since Jesus was knee high: Put the floor jack under the pumpkin with a piece of wood, like a small section of 2x4, in between. Raise it enough to get a a jackstand under the axle tube as close to directly below the spring as you can. You might need to go inwards a bit since trapezoid footprint jackstands will interfere with the tire. Next, move the floor jack over to the other side and jack directly under the axle tube until you can put another jack stand over there. Repeat on the rear axle and you should have all sides on jackstands. Very easy now to do complete tire rotation.
