THAT is exactly what I've been looking for... That little space is really the only area that makes sense to mount a CB, and I just haven't had much luck with the all-in-one units. I'll be ordering one of these very soon.

Its a fantastic little radio. The only holes I put in the jeep were in the little cover in front of the shifter. They also make this radio in a "all in one" version but I prefer this setup.

I just lay the mic next to the ebrake handle.

I can still pop the cover off for the park release if I need to.

So how has this mounting location for the CB unit been working out for you? I have a Uniden 520 XL that I pulled out of my JK, but I can't find an acceptable place for it in my JLU. I stumbled upon your install of the CMX660 and it looks great. Any issues that you've run into?
Thanks

No issues at all. Love the radio too. I can tell you that a 520 or even a 510 will not fit there. Having run the 510s in the past I can tell you that the 660 is a much better radio. It is twice as expensive though.

Thanks. Yeah, I realize my 520 won't fit. I was looking at the all-in-one Cobra or the portable Midland, but I may just give the 660 a chance.
Thanks

I bought a CMX760 and installed it today. Then I saw your post, now I’m jealous.

I really liked this thread. You saved me a bunch of money. I was going to purchase the overhead CB bar and various other stuff and was not looking forward to having the mic cord hanging down in my face all the time problems. Then Bam you solved my problems. Thanks for sharing.

I keep flip flopping on a centuries old CB with or Rugged Radios dual band (VHF/UHF) handhelds.
I’d had gone with a 40watt GMRS, but ya gotta run what the people you are wheelin’ with run...

^^ This ^^

I am not a huge fan of the all-in-one units. Personal preference and why I did what I did.
