First hi all it's been a while, secondly as some of you know installing a cb in your jeep can be quite challenging. Wow,
Ok, so before I dive in I have a 2024 jeep wrangler JL Rubi wirh the Sky one touch top which I don't mind telling you presents a multitude of issues in itself when installing a cb. Fast forward here for a moment. So during the installation I put in a Workman KDT quick disconnect. Which is pretty nice as I wanted to be able to remove the antenna for various reasons as one could imagine. I found out quickly that no one seems to sell a rain/dust cover for when you remove your antenna. So after an exhausting search and buying the wrong cover, a Tram 1290 NMO cover(NOT) lol. I decided to try and make a cover myself.
I've been retired for sometime now and work at my local Homedepot. Yesterday at lunch I decided to take the top half of the Workman antenna disconnect into work to see if I could find something that I could use as a rain/dust cover. During my search I went into the plumbing Isle and what did I find a cover with a perfect fit, not only that but the interal threads are exactly the same to my disbelief. wow, I just could believe it. So in the photo you can exactly what I used and what threads are needed to attach to the a Workman KDT quick disconnect.
I've not painted the brass as I couldn't leave it the brass color.
Later I'll have photos of the cb installation and photos of the custom cb mount I made from a piece of steel I bought from work, Homedepot.
Also please let me know if somehow during my internet search for this cover I missed finding a rain/dust cap..
