Did you extend the Mic connection?
I didn’t extend anything. I used what came with the kit.Did you extend the Mic connection?
I used a module that mutes a factory speaker when audio is coming from my ham radio. Should work with CB also. https://audiointerrupt.com/the-wiz-external-speaker-wizard/I am planning to install a Uniden CMX760 CB in the 2-door JL Sport that I just ordered. Since I am a bit hard of hearing, I thought I might need to use an external speaker. Does anyone know if you can wire the external speaker output of the CB radio into the AUX-in media jack in the Jeep?
Thanks for that link.I used a module that mutes a factory speaker when audio is coming from my ham radio. Should work with CB also. https://audiointerrupt.com/the-wiz-external-speaker-wizard/
That is awesome. I didn’t know they made something like this.I used a module that mutes a factory speaker when audio is coming from my ham radio. Should work with CB also. https://audiointerrupt.com/the-wiz-external-speaker-wizard/
and it works just as advertised. I'll never buy another external speaker for the ham radio. That is awesome. I didn’t know they made something like this.
I bought the Wiz for my GMRS radio install. Have not installed yet. I understand the interrupt concept, just wondering how it performs with volume with the other leaders playing or not playing? Must you have the car radio on for it to work? Must you turn the music down to hear it when someone talks on the CB? Any other suggestions or pointers you can throw my way?and it works just as advertised. I'll never buy another external speaker for the ham radio.
I use my AM/FM radio all the time when driving my JL. The interrupt doesn't care what the volume is on the AM/FM radio. It only shuts off audio from the AM/FM from going to that particular speaker and instead lets the HAM radio audio go to it at the volume that I have the HAM radio set at. I can't say that I've ever had the AM/FM radio off when the HAM activated but I presume the HAM would still come thru.I bought the Wiz for my GMRS radio install. Have not installed yet. Sounds good! Just wanted some assurance before I dismantle everything, lol!I use my AM/FM radio all the time when driving my JL. The interrupt doesn't care what the volume is on the AM/FM radio. LOL...photobomb had me cracking up!Just a quick update. I spent some time today making my own CB antenna mount. Got some 3/16" angle iron and started cutting and grinding. End product turned out pretty good for shitty steel extrusion. Once I was done, I used some automotive clear coat and then installed it using stainless hardware. If I were to do it again, I'd make it from stainless and polish it a little more. Anyway, this this is beefy and does the job well.
