I'm looking for opinions on what to do with my fenders.

Currently have skinny metal fenders:

I installed one of my chopped Rubicon takeoffs today to see that it would work with the AAL washers and just to see if I like it.

Not sure what to do and which I like better. Lights won't be in stock till mid/end of November so if I installed the other 3 fenders I'd have to go without any brackets to support the front or try to rig some sort of support in there. The rears are also non textured ready for paint so at this point don't match the textured fronts.

The fronts also have scratches/gouges on them since they were used. On one hand they don't look amazing but on the other hand I'll probably end up scratching them up on the trail anyway. ?‍♀

Opinions?

I love the look of the chopped OE fenders so I went the Quake chop route. That said if I ever total wreck them I'll get the KBD flares probably due to how expensive the OE ones are.

I think I'm leaning towards OEM but currently am stuck with some stubborn bolts that won't come out to be able to remove the old fenders.

Definitely the OE chopped fenders IMO. You don't loose any clearance over the skinny ones and get some protection from sling.
Quake also has nice fender chop lights.

I've heard the Quake lights yellow over time and also get water leaks. I'm leaning towards AAL's new smoked black lights coming in November.

They all seem to yellow a bit over time.
I have the Quake for 3 years, they yellowed a little, but never had a water leak.
I just bought their smoked lens version.
None the less, AAL makes some nice stuff, I have several items from them, so you should go with what you want :)..

I’m a fan of the chopped oems, I’m using AAL light kit, no yellowing 4 years now in FL sun….also modified and reused the brace in the bottom of the fender….plus the turn signal is badass, then again, I’m easily amused….…:)

I going to re-use that bottom brace as well somehow. Maybe not today as this is turning out to be a bigger project than I expected.

I still have to fender chop the rear fenders, remove metal rears, install new fenders and then go out buy some more bolts to replace the ones I had to drill out.

I'm also going to see if there are some sort of long rubber washers/support brackets maybe I can pile up and secure against the fender here:

I wont lie Ive had a few issues with LED burnout with my Quake Smoked ones over the few months Ive had them and it always seems to be the right one, however they have been AMAZING with customer service and sending me new ones with only pictures of the issues every time. Hell last time I wrecked it while out wheeling, told them about it and sent a picture and they said "Dont worry we dont need it back"

So yea all the companies have their quality issues AAL included but I can attest to Quakes customer service and highly recommend them.

The brackets that come with any of the lights will take care of the front of the fender, I left my rear lower brackets off cause I didnt wnat to mess with them and I have no major flapping causing any issues with mine.

And this is from a gnarly rub against a wall that I mentioned in my last post. The flexibility of the plastic fenders is what has me still on the factory ones, if this was a metal fender the damage would have sucked lol

I talked to the AAL rep at the Offroad Expo and they said they are changing the material they use for their lights. The new lights will be made out of the same plastic headlights are made out of. The new ones look really nice. This is a pic I took from the expo:

I was going to to something temporary since the lights aren't available for 2 months. I guess I'll know when I drive it how made it is without any bracing at all.

Also am I supposed to cut this part off? Or will I need it for the light bracket?
